Donuts vs. Numbers: A Homer Sized Confusion
Woohoo! I saw Dell's stock went up! That's like when I find a donut that someone else dropped... score! Turns out this company called Dell – they make computers and stuff not delicious donuts sadly – did some financial mumbo jumbo. They made $1.55 per share which is less than the $1.69 everyone thought they would. It's like expecting a jelly donut and getting a plain one. D'oh!
Revenue: More Krusty Burgers Than Expected!
But then surprise! They sold $23.38 billion worth of stuff which is more than the $23.14 billion everyone was drooling over. It's like ordering one Krusty Burger and getting two! Mmm... Krusty Burger. These numbers are so confusing! Why can't they just measure this stuff in donuts?
AI: The New Duff Beer?
Turns out Dell is betting big on this thing called AI. Not A.I. like the scary robot movie but 'Artificial Intelligence.' They think they'll sell $7 billion worth of AI systems. That's more than all the Duff Beer in Springfield! They say these AI systems are making them more money. It's like finding a twenty in my pants...score!
Full Year Forecast: Slightly Less Disappointing
For the whole year they still think they'll make about $103 billion but they're now thinking they'll make $9.40 per share instead of $9.30. It’s like when Marge says I only ate half a donut when I actually ate like three quarters. Sneaky!
Nvidia: Dell's New Best Friend (Besides Donuts)
Apparently Dell is tight with this company called Nvidia who makes chips for AI. Dell says everyone wants AI systems especially these 'second tier cloud providers.' Whatever those are! All I know is if it means more money Marge might let me buy that new TV!
Shareholder Shenanigans: Ka Ching!
Dell is also giving a bunch of money back to its shareholders – they spent $2.4 billion on buying back shares and giving out dividends. It's like when Mr. Burns accidentally drops a wad of cash and I get to keep it! Score! Overall looks like Dell's doing alright even if I don't understand half of what they're doing. Now where's my donut?
