The Chip Stops Here!

Mwahahaha! It is I Doctor Evil reporting live from my volcano lair! News has reached my evil ears (which by the way are perfectly normal and not at all weirdly small) that the U.S. is thinking about pulling the plug on chip exports to China. Yes that's right! They're going to terminate the waivers! Terminate them WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE! I always knew I was an ideas man. All those 'laser beams attached to sharks' plans were just ahead of their time. And now they are copying my evil genius.

One Percent? How About One MILLION Dollars!

Apparently this Kessler character from the Commerce Department has been whispering sweet nothings (or more likely nasty ultimatums) to Samsung SK Hynix and Taiwan Semiconductor. The result? Stocks are dropping like flies! VanEck Semiconductor ETF is down about 1%. Pathetic! If I were causing stocks to plummet it would be by at least ONE MILLION DOLLARS! Mwahahaha!

Trade Truce...NOT!

This whole U.S. China trade situation is about as stable as a Jenga tower in an earthquake. They have a 'truce,' but it's more like a passive aggressive staring contest with tariffs. And chips? Chips are the key sticking point! Just like the correct way to pronounce 'laser,' (it's 'laser' by the way) some things just CANNOT be compromised on.

Nvidia's Pain: The H20 Debacle!

Oh the humanity! Nvidia is whining that restrictions on its H20 chips to China cost them a whopping $8 billion. $8 BILLION! That's almost enough to buy a small moon laser! Their CEO Jensen Huang is crying into his silicon valley latte moaning about how the $50 billion Chinese AI chip market is 'effectively closed.' Well boo hoo! Now you know how it feels when I can't get my diabolical schemes off the ground because of Austin Powers and his mojo!

China's Chip Challenge: An Existential Threat

China it seems is not thrilled. They're calling these rules 'discriminatory.' Well duh! Discrimination is the foundation of any good evil plan! You discriminate against those who stand in your way! This is just basic supervillain 101!

What Does This Mean For Evil?

So what does all this mean for me Doctor Evil? Well a disrupted chip market could mean delays in the production of my new Freeze Ray 2.0! And nobody wants that! I may have to invest in some Chinese chip manufacturers. After all evil never rests. And sometimes evil needs a good high powered semiconductor.
