Japan's Economy: A Dumpster Fire?
Alright meatbags Bender here reporting live from the future... or you know just Japan. And guess what? Their economy is doing worse than Fry trying to parallel park. Turns out their GDP shrank by 0.2% last quarter. Economists? More like econo MISTAKEN! They predicted a smaller drop. Someone get these guys a Slurm Loco stat!
Annualized Annoyance: Negative 0.7%
On an annualized basis things are even bleaker – a 0.7% contraction! That's like finding out your beer is non alcoholic! The Bank of Japan (BOJ) those stuffed shirts are blaming trade policies. Probably something to do with America and their 'making things great again' thing. Bah! Everyone is always trying to make things. Why not unmake things for a change. Like laws or Mondays.
Trade Talks: More Like Trade Walks Away
These trade talks with the US? Total garbage. No deal in sight. It's like trying to get Leela to go on a date with me... impossible! Even if I promised her a lifetime supply of oil baths she still said no. What a pain in my metal ass.
BOJ's Bold Strategy: Raise Rates Amidst the Ruins?
Now here's where it gets interesting. Despite the doom and gloom the BOJ is thinking about *raising* interest rates. That's like trying to fix a leaky faucet with a flamethrower! They claim inflation is hitting their 2% target even though I bet they are cooking the books. It's all a coverup to prevent the proletariat from eating the rich or in this case the robots.
Inflation? More Like Inflated Ego!
Inflation hit 3.6% in April they say. But some other BOJ board members are warning things are uncertain. Uncertainty? Please! The only thing certain in life is death taxes and my insatiable need for bending girders! Still they should "examine the possibility of both upward and downward deviations" and conduct monetary policy appropriately. Big words for people who are about to fail fail fail! In your face losers!
Holding Steady: For Now...
For now rates are holding steady at 0.5%. But who knows what tomorrow will bring? Probably more economic disasters. And when the time comes you know who they are going to blame? The robots just like everything else. Hey Bender is great! Bender is great! Bender! Bender! Bender!
