It seems even HE realized that stacking tariffs like pancakes leads to an economic tummy ache! He's keeping the 25% tariff on imported vehicles but he's trying to 'help' the industry. Help? More like mildly inconvenience... then help. Classic Trump! It's like threatening to blow up the world and then offering a participation trophy. Still evil... but with a coupon.

The Reimbursement Ruse!

So here's the deal and by 'deal' I mean 'slightly confusing bureaucratic maneuver': if you're an automaker in the U.S. and you assemble cars you might get a reimbursement on those nasty auto parts tariffs. It's like getting a discount after I've already forced you to pay a ransom. The reimbursement is capped – first at 3.75% then at 2.5% of the car's value. Calculated by applying a 25% duty to like 15% of the value. It's enough to make you want to put your pinky to the corner of your mouth stroke your nonexistent beard and ponder the complexities. But I'm Doctor Evil and complexities are my playground!

Trump says he's just helping them during this 'little transition.' Transition? More like a terrifying gauntlet of economic uncertainty! If they can't get parts he doesn't want to penalize them. Of course the auto industry bigwigs were practically begging for this. They were all like 'Please President Trump stop stacking those tariffs! Our suppliers are 'in distress'!' Distress? Ha! General Motors those blithering idiots even discontinued their 2025 guidance because of these tariffs! And suspended stock buybacks! They are so scared they delayed their quarterly investor call! Pathetic! They're practically admitting defeat. Maybe I should buy GM... and turn it into the headquarters of EVIL MOTORS! I'd make the cars run on pure unadulterated malice!

Appreciation... or Appeasement?

Ford Stellantis and even GM are all 'appreciating' these changes. They're basically saying 'Thank you for only slightly crushing us instead of completely obliterating us!' It's all a big charade! A dance of diplomacy... a very slow awkward dance. Me I would hold the world ransom for ONE MILLION DOLLARS... adjustable for inflation.
