Okay dolls let's get into it. I just saw that Google spent a whopping $8.27 million on CEO Sundar Pichai's personal security in 2024! Like WHAT?! That's up 22% from the year before! I mean I know security is important – gotta protect that empire right? – but that's a LOT of money honey. It's giving me serious 'Keeping Up' budget flashbacks but even our glam squads don't cost that much...per year.
Security Chic
Apparently Sundar's security situation includes 'residential security security monitoring services car and driver services and personal security during all travel.' Okay so basically he's living the VIP life. Like I get it being a CEO is stressful but couldn't they just give him a really good alarm system and a panic room designed by Kanye? Just a thought. But hey at least they said it's 'necessary and in the best interests of Alphabet,' so you know totally justifiable... *eye roll*
Artificial Intelligence and Real Concerns
So Pichai was apparently jet setting around the world chatting with world leaders about AI. Which okay is kinda cool. But also is he getting more security because of AI? Are the robots coming for him? Maybe I should invest in some robot proof shapewear. Just in case. And Google is making so much money of AI it is kind of crazy but they can surely afford to spend a few more million to protect their CEO!
Show Me the Money
His total compensation including stock awards was $10.73 million in 2024. Not bad boo not bad! And guess what? That's UP from the previous year! Meanwhile I'm over here trying to convince people that my Skims line is 'affordable.' Kidding! (Kind of.) But seriously who needs a billionaire boyfriend when you can BE the billionaire...with killer security?
Everybody Gets a Raise!
Apparently Google isn't just splurging on Pichai. Their legal chief and new finance chief also got major compensation boosts. And the average Google employee made over $330K! Like can I get an internship? I’ll bring the contour kit and teach everyone how to take the perfect selfie. Deal?
Is It Worth It?
In all seriousness though it's crazy how much companies are spending on security these days. Is it necessary? Is it overkill? Is it just another way for the rich to get richer? I don't know dolls. But one thing I do know is I'm gonna need a bigger closet to fit all this designer clothes. And maybe a few more bodyguards of my own. You never know when the paparazzi are gonna strike! You know what they say 'You have to get enough sleep to be efficient.' So get your beauty sleep.
