Prime Day Hype: Is It Even Real?
Okay dolls let's be real. Everyone's obsessed with Amazon Prime Day. Like is it just me or does it feel like everyone's suddenly a shopaholic? Bank of America's saying it could hit $21.4 billion in sales. BILLION you guys! That's like more than my entire closet... almost. But here's the tea: they’re stretching it out to four days next year! Four days of pure unadulterated shopping madness. Is this real life? Or is it just another way to make us spend all our hard earned cash?
Amazon's Stock: Not Feeling the Love?
So Amazon's stock was down almost 2% on Tuesday. Two percent! That's like almost as dramatic as when someone spills matcha on my new Skims. But seriously what's going on? Is it just Prime Day jitters or is something bigger happening? I need answers people! Like stat. If Amazon isn't thriving what does that mean for the rest of us? Are we all doomed to wear last season's Balenciaga?
The 70% Secret: Consumer Spending Duh!
Okay so I'm not an economist but even *I* know that consumer spending is like 70% of the whole U.S. economy. 70% you guys! That's a lot of responsibility on our perfectly manicured shoulders. But here's the thing: are we even spending as much as we used to? There's talk about tariffs and people trying to avoid extra costs. Like I get it – saving a few bucks is always a good look even if you're like super rich.
Wallets Feeling the Pinch? (Mine Included!)
Word on the street – and by street I mean the Bureau of Economic Analysis – is that consumer spending fell slightly in May. Slightly! And disposable income is down too. So basically even though we *want* to buy all the things our wallets are like 'Kim honey maybe just one new Birkin this month.' It's rough out here dolls. Even for me…kinda.
Earnings Season: The Real Tea?
Next week is earnings season which apparently is a HUGE deal. Like Andrew Smith from Delos Capital Advisors is saying it's 'one of the most important earnings seasons we've had in a while.' Dramatic much? But he says retail demand is slowing down. So what does that mean? Are we all becoming minimalists? (LOL JK. Never gonna happen.) But seriously what's going on with the economy? Someone explain it to me like I'm North West please!
Pepsi and Amex: Consumer Crystal Ball?
Keep an eye on Pepsico and American Express's reports next week. Apparently they're supposed to give us some insight into what's happening with the consumers. Like will we still be buying overpriced soda and swiping our Amex cards like there's no tomorrow? Or are we all going to start couponing and like actually using cash? I'm terrified.
