Okay dolls let's get into it. Novo Nordisk you know the peeps behind Wegovy had a bit of a rollercoaster ride but guess what? Wegovy is bouncing back! Like it's been touch and go but basically the drama with the copycat drugs is calming down. They said sales of their super popular Wegovy weight loss drug were seen improving in the second half of the year as the availability of copycat compounded drugs is phased out. You know I’m all about looking snatched and Wegovy is part of my journey so I'm here for it!

The Shade! Competition from Copycats?

So apparently these copycat drugs were like totally cramping Wegovy's style. The Danish pharmaceutical giant reported lower than expected first quarter sales of its flagship obesity drug and trimmed its full year sales growth forecast as alternative versions of the drug have eaten away at its U.S. market share. I mean come on! Is nothing sacred? But Novo Nordisk CEO Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen told CNBC that the end of a drug shortage ruling by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would allow sales to pick up again later in the year. Thank God! "Compounders took a part of our business away," Jørgensen told CNBC's Charlotte Reed. "We now expect that compounding will be knocked off so to say and we get that business growth going forward," he added.

Bye Felicia! To Fake Wegovy!

The FDA basically said 'No more!' to these copycats giving them until May 22nd to stop. Can you even imagine? I'm not one to name names but you know I'm always on the lookout for what’s real and what's not. This just proves you can't mess with the OG. It's like trying to copy my contour. Good luck honey! And let's be real nobody wants the fakes. We want the real deal! "Following the U.S. FDA removal of semaglutide injectables from the FDA drug shortage list the sales outlook assumes a reduction in patients on compounded GLP 1 treatment during the second half of 2025," the company said.

Online Pharmacies Save the Day!

Novo Nordisk is also teaming up with online pharmacies and telehealth providers like Hims & Hers Health Ro and LifeMD. Smart move! This makes Wegovy more accessible and affordable. Plus CVS Health is giving Wegovy exclusivity for its Caremark patients. Werk! Because everyone deserves to feel their best and accessibility is key. "They have now excluded the competitive products so we have exclusivity with them," Jørgensen said. "We did not bid for exclusivity. We believe in open access so it was CVS that made a decision to focus on Wegovy."

The Future Is Looking Fab!

So things are looking up. Novo Nordisk is even working on new treatments like CagriSema. They're confident it's the best thing out there. And let's be honest who doesn't love options? Meanwhile it has applied for regulatory U.S. approval of an oral version of its existing semaglutide treatment which it said has the potential to be "the first oral GLP 1 treatment for obesity." "I'm very optimistic on CagriSema," Jørgensen said. "From the data we have CagriSema is the best product that has been tested out or is on the market and we believe we can get those data even better." It's all about innovation darling.

Competition Honey? Please!

Of course there's competition from companies like Eli Lilly. But let's face it I thrive on a little competition. It keeps things interesting!
