Families of Boeing crash victims fight to overturn a deal that lets the company avoid prosecution, arguing for accountability over corporate leniency, and I'm just here wondering if they have good travel-sized beauty products.

Seriously Is This Real Life?

Okay dolls let's get into it. I saw this article about Boeing and all I can say is 'Ew David!' Like 346 people died in those crashes back in 2018 and 2019. I can't even imagine what those families are going through. But get this: Boeing made a deal with the Justice Department to avoid being branded a convicted felon. A FELON! I am not a Lawyer but something ain't right and I'm pretty good at reading people.

Money Can't Buy You Heaven But It Can Apparently Buy You a Get Out of Jail Free Card

Apparently Boeing is paying a lot of money – like over a BILLION dollars – in fines and compensation. But the families are still fighting because they think it's not enough. They want someone to be held responsible. They’re saying the Justice Department is basically letting Boeing off the hook. This judge Reed O'Connor even said Boeing's crime is the 'deadliest corporate crime in U.S. history.' Like wow. Just wow. I thought my selfies were controversial.

Independent Monitor? More Like 'Independent Ignorer'

So under the original deal Boeing was supposed to have an independent monitor overseeing them for three years. But now they're just hiring a 'compliance consultant.' Like are you serious? That's like hiring a babysitter who's just gonna let the kids eat cake all day. I mean come on! We're talking about safety here not contouring techniques. Although a good contour can be life changing…

The Plot Thickens More Than My Hair Extensions

The families are asking the judge to reject the deal and maybe even appoint a special prosecutor. They feel like the Justice Department has already made up its mind not to prosecute Boeing no matter what the court decides. It's all very dramatic and legal and honestly my brain is starting to hurt. Maybe I need a nap... and a green juice.

Justice for All...Or Just for the Rich?

The Justice Department is saying the deal 'secures meaningful accountability' and 'brings finality' to the case. But the families think it's a total cop out. Most of them have already settled civil suits and gotten paid but they're still fighting for justice. It's like when someone copies my SKIMS designs – money is great but the principle of the matter is more important! Okurrr?

Flying High or Falling Apart?

Boeing was supposed to go on trial on June 23 for misleading regulators about this flight control system on the 737 MAX. But now that's off the table. It's like they're saying 'Oops we killed hundreds of people but here's some money so let's just forget about it.' Honestly the whole thing is giving me major anxiety. I need to go meditate and manifest some positive energy. And maybe book a flight on a different airline... just kidding! (Maybe not.)
