A Witcher's Take on Tech?
Alright alright. Geralt of Rivia here Witcher. Monster slayer. Occasional card player and avid reader of tech news... yeah you heard me right. Apparently some fancy pants Germans at Proxima Fusion just raked in a whopping 130 million euros. For what you ask? To bottle the bloody sun! Nuclear fusion they call it. Sounds like something out of a sorcerer's spellbook doesn't it? More power less consequence... like a good Thunderbolt potion eh?
From Nilfgaard to Nuclear: The Energy Gamble
Apparently this fusion thing is the same process that powers the sun and stars. They say it could solve all our energy problems and then some. Limitless power they claim. Reminds me of the Wild Hunt's promises – sounds too good to be true. Still clean energy? Less reliance on those blasted dwarves and their coal? Hmmm might be worth a look even if it smells like another one of Yennefer's experiments gone wrong.
The 'Inevitable' Meltdown? Or Breakthrough?
This Proxima Fusion's head honcho Francesco Sciortino sounds confident. Says it's not *if* fusion is possible but *when* they'll make it profitable. "Inevitable," he calls it. Strong words. Makes me wonder if he's been hitting the White Gull a bit too hard. But hey if they pull it off no more scooping up drowners for coin; just clean power. Still I'll believe it when I see it. After all I have heard worse predictions. Like that time a Doppler said I'd find true love... bah!
Stellarators: Fancy Doughnuts or Future Powerhouses?
They're using something called a stellarator which apparently looks like a twisted donut. Uses magnets to control plasma like Yennefer controls me. I mean uh…Never mind. This "donut" is supposed to allow the conditions for nuclear fusion. Someone called Daniel Waterhouse even called stellarators the "power plants of the future". Well let’s hope this doesn’t end up like someone’s bad hangover food. “Hmm…Medallion’s humming. Place of Power gotta be.”
The Witcher's Wager: Will They Succeed?
So 130 million euros huh? That's enough coin to buy a *lot* of Gwent cards. Or maybe a decent horse that doesn't run away at the first sign of a griffin. This is a big gamble. But what isn’t these days? Let's hope they don't end up like so many other bright ideas – dead in a ditch smelling of brimstone and regret. If they do make it then this one is more valuable than the philosopher’s stone. “Wind’s howling.”
Toss a Coin to Your Physicist?
Well I'm off. Monsters to slay contracts to fulfill and maybe just maybe a glimpse into the future of clean energy. Keep your fingers crossed folks. And if you see a giant twisted donut glowing in the sky run. And send for a Witcher... just in case. After all Evil is Evil. Lesser greater middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another then I prefer not to choose at all.

I bet Yennefer is already trying to get her hands on this technology.
