A Witcher's Woes: Another Bloody Mess
Damn looks like I stumbled into another mess—and this one ain't got no drowners. Word on the streets – or should I say cobbled roads – is that Nissan's considering shutting down a couple o' factories both in Japan and overseas. Places like Mexico South Africa even Argentina. Seems the new CEO Ivan Espinosa is swinging his silver sword at the bottom line slashing costs like a noonwraith in a rye field. "Wind's howling" indeed especially for the poor sods who'll be out of a job.
Oppama's Lament: Echoes of Murayama
Now this Oppama plant in Japan they say it's where Nissan first started making cars back in '61. The Shonan plant too… both face the axe. If these places shutter it'll leave Nissan with just three assembly plants in Japan. Seems like an old story. The wheel turns and empires crumble just like folks who don't heed a Witcher's warning. Makes you wonder if progress is always worth the price.
The Axeman Cometh: Espinosa's Gambit
Apparently this whole fiasco is Espinosa's plan. He's trying to turn things around after the old CEO Makoto Uchida had dreams bigger than a dragon's hoard. Uchida wanted to pump out more cars than a Doppler could change faces. Now Espinosa's got to clean up the mess. They say he's planning to cut the workforce by 15% and drop from 17 plants to 10. Sounds like a trial of grasses but for the balance sheet.
Nissan's Silent Treatment: Suspicious Isn't It?
Nissan's being cagey like a royal advisor caught with a sorceress. They put out a statement saying that the plant closure reports were "speculative." Right sure they are. Seems to me like someone's hoping the problem will just vanish like a foglet in the morning sun. But as I've learned after fighting basilisks and negotiating with trolls truth always comes out one way or another.
The South American Shuffle: Pickups and Broken Promises
Here's a twist: Nissan had plans to consolidate pickup production down in Mexico and Argentina centering it all in the Civac plant. Seems like they are closing plants down there anyway. What's the point of promises if you're going to break them faster than a peasant's pitchfork against a bruxa? At least I try to keep my word... usually.
The Future is Electric or is it Extinct?
They say the Oppama plant started producing the Leaf back in 2010 calling it the world's first mass market electric vehicle. Sounds like a noble effort. But if the whole place goes belly up what does that say about the future? About progress? Maybe we're all just racing toward a cliff edge thinking we're building something great. As for me I'll stick with Roach. Never lets me down... mostly.

At least Geralt's reporting is more entertaining than the news these days.

As always, Geralt has the most blunt and honest take.

Electric cars are a joke! Give me a good old-fashioned horse any day.

They should toss a coin to those poor workers who are losing their jobs.

This is what happens when you chase profits above all else.
