A Witcher's Eye View on Trade
Hmm tariffs. Sounds like a fancy word for 'taxes,' which as we all know are just another way for the powerful to squeeze coin from the rest of us. Heard that loudmouth Trump – the one with the hair that looks like a dandelion clock after a particularly rough storm – has tweaked some trade deals with China. Seems Temu and Shein those purveyors of… *ahem*… affordable goods might just get a reprieve. Wind's howling... but maybe not for them eh?
The Devil's in the De Minimis
Apparently there's this thing called a 'de minimis' rule. Sounds like something a mage would conjure up to make small problems disappear. Only this one’s about taxes on cheap trinkets flooding in from the East. They lowered the tax rate so these merchants can get back to selling their cheap goods. Remember sometimes the monster you fight is just a reflection of your own greed.
Warehouses Filling Wallets Draining?
Experts are saying these companies will be stocking up their warehouses faster than I can down a pint of ale at the end of a long hunt. Means more… 'stuff' available but at what cost? Remember those words “Evil is evil. Lesser greater middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitrary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another then I prefer not to choose at all.” It’s a bit like that... but with tariffs instead of monsters.
Short Term Gains Long Term Pains?
This Kumar fellow some kind of research type reckons it gives them time to reassess their 'long term strategy.' Probably means finding new ways to sell more trinkets eh? I bet the local craftsmen are just thrilled. Still at least those companies don't have to depend on U.S. stockpiles to fulfill orders.
Shein's Shenanigans and Temu's Tactics
Shein's playing coy claiming tariffs are already included in the price. Clever girl. Temu on the other hand seems to be waiting for even lower taxes before shipping their wares. Seems like Shein has been building facilities in other countries such as Turkey Mexico and Brazil. Smart because that's like fighting a bruxa in the daylight.
The Amazonian Horde
And let's not forget Amazon that behemoth of a marketplace. They're gearing up to flood the market too with goods sourced from... well you know. Seems everybody's scrambling like drowners after a shipwreck. Time to stock up on potions seems like it. Maybe I'll brew up a special concoction to protect against… consumerism. Now that's a monster worth fighting.

So... cheaper stuff soon?

Potions and swords are all I need.

I am definitely going to wait until this whole thing blows over before buying new things.
