Amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, world leaders scramble for restraint, while a certain Witcher muses on the futility of it all.

The Scent of Sulfur and Politics

Hmm another day another monster. Only this one isn't a griffin or a leshen but something far more insidious: politics. Seems Israel decided to give Iran's nuclear ambitions a good ol' fashioned 'how do you do' with a series of airstrikes. Nuclear program they say? Sounds like a good way to end up like Sodden.

Trump's Gambit Rubio's Denial

The Americans are involved up to their eyeballs naturally. Trump knew about it Rubio's playing innocent. 'Top priority is protecting American forces,' he says. As if protecting their interests wasn't the real priority. These politicians... always a silver tongue never a straight answer. Reminds me of Dijkstra.

Drones and Declarations

A hundred Iranian drones flying towards Israel intercepted they say. A state of emergency declared. Makes you wonder if these leaders ever learn. Seems the region is always ready to explode like a noonwraith in sunlight. Wonder how long before I end up in the middle of it with a contract I can't refuse?

Restraint? Ha! Good Luck With That

Kier Starmer bless his heart calls for 'restraint'. The French and Germans chime in too. "Restraint calm diplomacy!" they cry. As if words ever stopped a war. You might as well ask a kikimore to be vegetarian. Still can't fault them for trying... even if it is as useful as a spoon in a sword fight.

Asia's Outcry Russia's Ire

Malaysia condemns the attack China offers to help and Russia... well they're not happy either. 'Unprovoked attacks are categorically unacceptable,' they declare. Pot calling the kettle black eh? If I had a coin for every time I heard that one I could retire and open a tavern. Oh wait...

The World Watches the Witcher Sighs

The UN is 'concerned' the EU calls the situation 'dangerous'. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are 'deeply concerned'. Turkey says 'no more bloodshed'. Everyone's got an opinion and none of them will matter when the bombs start falling. The world is burning and all I can do is watch. Well maybe not *all* I can do... Time to sharpen the silver sword. Just in case.
