A Twinkle in the Eye of Justice?

Bah politics! It's gone to the dogs Smithers simply gone to the dogs! This George Santos fellow a Republican no less finds himself in a pickle – a federal fraud pickle to be precise. Apparently this rapscallion spun a yarn so tall it could rival the height of my Springfield Power Plant! And now he's facing the music. Or more accurately the gavel.

The Devil is in the (Financial) Details

This Santos character seems to have dipped his fingers in quite a few pies. Campaign finance shenanigans pilfering unemployment funds during that dreadful pandemic (a time when even *I* considered rationing the caviar!) and outright lies on his financial disclosures! It's enough to make a respectable robber baron like myself blush… almost. I mean really stealing from the unemployed? That's low even for me. And I once blocked out the sun!

Pleading and Bargaining the American Way!

He admitted to a few little… *misunderstandings* as I call them. A single count of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Trivial matters really. Though I suppose one must be careful not to get *caught*. And now he's offering to repay a measly $580,000. Peanuts! Pocket change! I spend more than that on cigars in a week! He's asking for a slap on the wrist: only two years in the clink. Preposterous!

Lock Him Up! (But Keep Him Away From My Assets)

The U.S. Attorney's office bless their pea sized brains is demanding a more… *robust* sentence of 87 months. Now that's what I call justice! Or at least a good start. It sends a message: cheat the system and face the consequences! Though of course the *real* message is don't get caught. Unless you're me then it's perfectly acceptable.

A Social Media Scoundrel

Apparently this Santos fellow has been quite the chatterbox on social media. Defiant posts they say. Unrepentant! The nerve! It’s one thing to be a crook; it's quite another to flaunt it! If I were him I'd be keeping a low profile perhaps finding a nice quiet Caribbean island to… *reconsider* my life choices. Smithers remind me to buy a Caribbean island. With a dungeon.

Excellent... or Not?

So what have we learned Smithers? The political landscape is teeming with charlatans the legal system is a slow moving beast and I'm still the richest most powerful man in Springfield! As for Santos well let him face the music. Perhaps a stint in the slammer will teach him a thing or two. Or at the very least keep him occupied so he doesn’t bother me eh Smithers?

I wish I could steal unemployment money and get away with it.

87 months? Sounds like a fair price to pay for such a crime. Should be longer.
