Release the Hounds! (On Wall Street)
Bah! Another month another chance for these so called 'titans' of industry to bumble around with my money... I mean *their* money yes. Fintrx whoever they are tells me family offices are throwing shekels around again. Apparently June saw 60 direct investments. Progress? Hardly. That's still a 40% drop from last year! Are these nincompoops deliberately trying to run my pockets dry? Smithers remind me to look into acquiring Fintrx. Perhaps a hostile takeover is in order.
Apes and Indie Films? Preposterous!
Entertainment deals you say? The Yamauchi family dabbling in film production? Sounds like a fool's errand. And Blackstone’s David Blitzer throwing money at padel and virtual golf? Utter nonsense. What we need are investments that actually *matter*. You know things that increase Burns' Power Plant's bottom line. Smithers investigate if we can somehow profit from crippling the virtual golf industry. Perhaps rigging the simulators to induce nausea.
Biotech: Now *That's* What I Call Progress!
Finally some sense! Biotech and healthcare are the only things worth bothering with these days. Antheia eh? Making Narcan ingredients? Excellent! Less overdoses mean more productive drones for the workforce. And this Christina Smolke bioengineering yeast... hmm sounds like a mad scientist after my own heart. Smithers get me her number! Maybe she can concoct a serum to make me eternally youthful. And ruthless of course. More ruthless than I already am if that's even possible.
A Professor AND an Entrepreneur? Intriguing...
Smolke says family offices have the 'long investment horizons' for biotech. She’s right of course! Patience is a virtue especially when it comes to lining my coffers with new inventions. These ventures are all so very exciting. This is why I stay on top because I can see the future. Now if only I could see what's for lunch. Smithers! Bring me my daily glob of protein!
Rebuilding Supply Chains? Burns Saves the Day!
Drug shortages you say? Unacceptable! How am I supposed to exploit the sick and desperate if there are no drugs to inflate the prices of? Antheia's expanding production to the U.S.? Good. Make sure Burns Industries gets a piece of that pie. Smithers draft a memo: 'Project Equitable Exploitation.' We'll corner the market on essential medicines and watch the money roll in!
To the Future!
Impact driven family offices? What sentimental hogwash! I'm driven by impact alright – the impact of my boot heel on the necks of my competitors! But if this Smolke woman thinks she can manipulate me with talk of equitable access and solving drug shortages she's sorely mistaken. I will use her brilliance to further my own nefarious schemes and then... well she'll find out soon enough. Now Smithers fetch me my abacus. We have profits to calculate. Excellent!
