Wait AI is a Bookworm Now?
Okay dolls so I heard about this crazy thing happening with AI and like I had to weigh in. Apparently this company Anthropic (never heard of them tbh) used books to train their AI Claude. Like reading is fundamental but for robots? Anyway a judge said it's totally 'fair use.' Is nothing sacred anymore? Can't a girl keep her beach read private? I mean imagine if someone analyzed all my selfies to create an AI Kim? The horror!
Transformative? Or Just Straight Up Sketchy?
The judge this William Alsup guy says it’s 'transformative.' He thinks AI using books is like an aspiring writer learning. Okay but isn't copying someone's work still...wrong? Like remember when Khloe 'borrowed' my dress and tried to pass it off as her own? Major drama! This feels similar. I mean are they giving these authors credit or like just taking their stuff? It's giving me bad vibes.
Big Win for AI...Big Loss for Authors?
So the article says this is a 'significant win' for AI companies. Great. But what about the authors? These writers Andrea Bartz Charles Graeber and Kirk Wallace Johnson (bless their hearts) are saying Anthropic basically stole their books. I get wanting to be innovative but building a 'multibillion dollar business' on someone else's work? That's not very 'on brand' for ethics is it?
But Wait There's More Tea!
Here's where it gets juicy besties. Apparently Anthropic had a whole LIBRARY of pirated stuff. Like hello? I thought we were past the Napster era! The judge is making them go to trial over this 'pirated material,' even if they didn't use it for training. Stealing is stealing duh! And buying a copy later doesn't magically erase the bad vibes. It's giving me flashbacks to that whole 'photo retouching' scandal tbh.
Contouring and AI: Where Do We Draw the Line?
This whole thing makes me wonder: where DO we draw the line with AI? It's like contouring – when does enhancing become like completely fake? Are we going to have AI writing all our books and scripts? What will happen to the people the creatives? I need answers! And a really good facial stat.
Time to Call My Lawyers...and Maybe Kris.
Okay dolls I’m going to need to call my lawyers (and probably Kris). This whole AI reading books thing is like way bigger than just some tech drama. It's about protecting creativity intellectual property and let's be real my brand! I need to make sure no AI is out there impersonating me or like stealing my genius ideas for Skims. Stay tuned because this is about to get even more interesting…probably. And don't forget you guys nobody likes a shady AI. Period.
