Small businesses struggle to afford new weight-loss drugs for employees, while larger companies are offering them. What's a fat, fun-loving guy to do?

Giggity Giggity! The Skinny on Skinny Shots

Alright folks Peter Griffin here reporting live from my recliner! So these fancy pants weight loss drugs are all the rage right? Wegovy Zepbound... they sound like rejected Transformer names. Turns out everyone wants 'em especially after a few too many trips to the Clam. But here's the deal: they cost more than my bar tab on a Friday night. And small businesses? They're getting the short end of the stick! It's like that time I tried to start my own brewery Pawtucket Patriot Ale! Turns out running a company is harder than explaining a joke to Stewie.

Freakin' Sweet Jobs But Not So Sweet Benefits

So apparently small businesses are where all the jobs are at. Which is great! More money for cutaways! But hold on a minute. These small time bosses are having a real tough time affording these weight loss wonder drugs. It’s like trying to fit my butt into those tiny airplane seats – it just ain't gonna happen! They're stuck between a rock and a hard place like that time I had to choose between beer and more beer! Tough choices man.

One Grand A Month?! Holy Crap!

These GLP 1 agonist drugs—sounds like some kind of alien invasion force right? Well they’re invading my wallet that's for sure! They cost around $1,000 a month! That’s like what 100 trips to the convenience store for a box of Ding Dongs and a scratch ticket? No wonder people are turning to their employers for help. I mean who wouldn't want their boss to pay for their weight loss? Giggity!

Shut Up Meg! We're Talking About Important Stuff Here!

So the article says that 76% of companies cover these drugs for diabetes but only 27% for weight loss. What's up with that? Are they saying diabetes is more important than fitting into my speedo? I think not! But good news some companies are considering it. Let's hope Pawtucket Brewery is one of them because otherwise I'm going to have to start selling lemonade by the side of the road again.

Lois! Where's My Health Insurance Card?!

Apparently these small businesses need to shop around for better insurance plans. And maybe even switch carriers! But guess what? That means paying more! It's like that time I tried to save money by buying bargain brand mayonnaise. Let's just say it didn't end well. So employers have to decide how much of that extra cost they can pass on to us the loyal employees. Hopefully they won't charge us too much or I'll have to sell my signed 'Jaws' poster!

FSA? HRA? Sounds Like Alphabet Soup to Me!

If insurance isn't an option there are things like FSAs and HRAs. Sounds like gibberish right? Basically they're ways for employers to help us pay for stuff. But the government has rules of course. Which is always a pain in the butt. Still it might help cover some of the cost. But the article says it might not be enough. It's like trying to stop a flood with a Dixie cup. But hey every little bit helps right?

This is worse than the time I tried to diet with only beer and chicken wings!
