Wait What's BOI Again? Is It a New Beauty Treatment?
Okay dolls so I'm scrolling through my news feed (because duh I have to stay informed!) and I see this thing about the Treasury Department backing off enforcing these reporting rules for small businesses. Apparently it's called "Beneficial Ownership Information," or BOI. Honestly when I first saw it I thought it was some new crazy expensive facial my dermatologist was trying to get me to try. Like 'Kim this BOI treatment will make you GLOW!' Turns out it's way less glamorous and way more about… taxes. GROSS.
Small Business Big Dreams... Like SKIMS for Pomeranians
So like this whole BOI thing requires small businesses to tell the government who owns them. Apparently it was supposed to stop bad people from hiding money or something. But now the Treasury is all 'Oops never mind!' and aren't enforcing it. Honestly good for them! Because like who has time for that? I’m trying to run a business here people! A *very* important business. I’ve been thinking what if I expanded SKIMS to include like tiny little outfits for dogs? Imagine a chihuahua in a nude colored SKIMS set! I die! But seriously the paperwork! I can't even keep track of my own outfits sometimes let alone the ownership structure of a doggy apparel empire!
Trump's Take? Total Disaster! (He's *So* Dramatic!)
Okay so Trump is like totally freaking out about this. He's calling it an "outrageous and invasive" disaster for small businesses. I mean he's always extra right? But I guess he's got a point. It’s gotta be a *lot* of paperwork. I guess this whole thing became effective during his first time as President but he didn't like it vetoed it which is kinda shady but hey politics right?
National Security? Or Just Bad Vibes?
So this other person like some expert from Transparency International is saying that not enforcing these rules could make the U.S. a magnet for criminals. Like drug cartels and terrorists. Okay that's kind of scary. But also like couldn't they just use shell companies in other countries? I mean it's not like criminals are known for playing by the rules anyway. Besides if I can manage a perfectly curated Instagram feed surely the government can handle a few bad guys.
So What Does This *Really* Mean for Me (and You)?
Honestly I’m still trying to figure it out. But it sounds like less paperwork for people starting businesses. Which means more time to focus on what *really* matters: contouring launching new products (SKIMS for pets anyone?!) and of course filming Keeping Up With The Kardashians (because duh!).
My Final Thoughts? You're Doing Amazing Sweetie!
So to all the small business owners out there you're doing amazing sweetie! Keep hustling keep dreaming and keep rocking that entrepreneurial spirit. And if you need any advice on building a brand creating a cult following or just taking the perfect selfie you know who to call! XOXO
