Target CEO Meets Al Sharpton Amid Boycott Buzz What's Really Going On!

OMG Target's in Trouble?

Okay dolls so I heard Target's CEO Brian Cornell is meeting with Rev. Al Sharpton. Like what is going on?! Apparently after Target started walking back some of its DEI programs things got shall we say *messy*. Civil rights groups are like 'Hold up Target! What happened to supporting Black owned businesses?' It's giving me major 'Kim there's people that are dying' vibes but in a corporate way.

Sharpton Says 'Talk to the Hand'?

Rev. Sharpton is not playing honey. He’s basically saying 'If you're gonna ditch your commitment to the Black community because of some election then we’re gonna ditch you!' He's not calling for a boycott *yet* but he's definitely throwing shade. And you know shade is my favorite color especially when it's justified. I mean I'm all about that equality ya know? 'It's what she deserves!'... or in this case what *they* deserve!

Target's Traffic Trouble

So like ever since Target started changing things up in January their foot traffic has been dropping faster than my last single (just kidding... maybe). Apparently people are taking their business elsewhere and I don't blame them. It's like if you're not supporting everyone then you're basically saying you don't want *my* money and that's a major no no! It's like 'Don't be rude!'

DEI Retreat: A Corporate Trend?

Apparently Target isn't alone. Walmart McDonald's even Tractor Supply are scaling back on DEI. Are they afraid of like Trump or something? Meanwhile Costco is standing their ground and people are actually *shopping* there! It's giving major 'who's the smart one now?' vibes. I mean even I know that inclusion is always in style just like my SKIMS! Seriously you guys should try them they are perfect for everyone.

What About George Floyd?

Rev. Sharpton is bringing up the real stuff. Like Target made all these promises after George Floyd's murder but now they're changing their tune? It's like what happened to 'We have to be the role models that drive change'? It's giving me the ick. Like 'seriously?'

Okay so the drama is unfolding. Will Target step up and recommit to DEI? Will Sharpton call for a boycott? Will I design a Target themed SKIMS collection? Only time will tell but you know I'll be watching because 'that's hot!' Seriously though I hope they figure it out. Inclusion is important and everyone deserves to feel seen and supported.
