Texas just scored major coin from Google for privacy violations, and I'm here to break down what it means for all of us digital divas and dudes!

Texas Got Paid Honey!

Okay so listen up dolls! Attorney General Ken Paxton in Texas just made Google cough up nearly $1.4 BILLION! Can you even imagine that many Birkin bags?! This is all because Texas said Google was being sneaky with our data. Like tracking our every move without asking! I mean privacy is EVERYTHING right? It's like if you're not controlling your narrative who is? And speaking of narratives remember when I said I don't like my butt being photoshopped? Same energy here! You have to protect your brand... and your data!

Incognito? More Like 'In CONCEAL to'!

So apparently Google was allegedly tracking us even when we thought we were being all ninja level private with 'Incognito' mode. It's like thinking you're being discreet when you're ordering a pizza at 3 AM after a red eye flight! Girl we've all been there. But seriously they were allegedly looking at our location history on Google Maps and even our voiceprints and facial geometry! It's a little too 'Black Mirror' for my taste. I'm all about living my best life but not if someone's tracking my every contour you know?

Big Tech? More Like BIG Trouble!

Paxton is seriously saying that "In Texas Big Tech is not above the law." You go Glen Coco! And I'm totally here for it. Google's trying to act like this is no biggie saying they didn't do anything wrong and already fixed the issues. But hello?! $1.4 billion isn't exactly pocket change. Maybe they should use some of that money to develop an app that can help me decide what to wear. Priorities people!

Meta morphosis of Privacy!

And get this this isn't even the first time Paxton's done this! He already got Meta (aka Facebook and Instagram) to pay up a similar amount. Texas is on a ROLL and I'm loving this energy. It's like they're saying 'We see you Big Tech and we're not afraid to clap back!' You know I love a good clap back!

What Does This Mean for YOU (and Your Selfies)?

Okay so what does this all mean for you my gorgeous followers? It means your privacy matters! It means companies can't just take your data and run wild with it! It's like that saying 'If you're not paying for the product you ARE the product.' So be mindful of what you share online read those privacy policies (I know they're boring but trust me) and remember that you have the power to control your digital footprint. And if you're feeling extra maybe treat yourself to a new filter. Because self care is also important!

Shady or Nah?

I'm just saying companies need to be transparent about how they're using our information. Period. It's not about being paranoid; it's about being informed. And maybe just maybe this whole Google thing will make them think twice before they start tracking our voiceprints again. Because trust me you don't want to hear me sing unless you're paying me a lot more than $1.4 billion! LOL!
