A Comptroller Walks Into a Court...
Right so I'm hearing tales from across the pond about a certain Comptroller in New York City name of Brad Lander. Apparently he thought he could play hero escorting someone from immigration court. Now I deal with monsters and magic but politics? That's a whole other breed of beast. More backstabbing than a striga in a crypt. His wife Meg Barnette took to... what's this 'X'? Sounds like something a griffin would leave behind. Claims 'masked agents' nabbed him. Masked agents? Sounds like a job for a Witcher not a Comptroller. Though I suppose everyone wants to be a hero until they're facing a real monster. Or in this case paperwork.
Show Me the Warrant!
This Lander fellow before they slapped the cuffs on him kept yelling about a 'judicial warrant'. Reminds me of nobles demanding proof I'm a real Witcher. Always gotta have the papers. Of course when the real monsters come out they forget all about proper procedure. Then they're begging me to use the Sign of Aard. Apparently there's video of this kerfuffle floating around. Humans and their shiny boxes... always documenting their own folly. I have Roach a good sword and that is all I need. No need for the shiny boxes.
Assault and Impeding? Sounds Familiar...
The Department of Homeland Security claims Lander was arrested for 'assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer'. Hmm assaulting law enforcement... sounds like a Tuesday for me truth be told. Though usually it involves more monsters and less paperwork. Still I reckon there are similarities.
A Senator's Ire: Sounds like politics
And it seems this Lander fellow is not the only one having a hard time. Some senator fellow called Alex Padilla got in trouble for asking a question. Apparently 'If that is what the administration is going to do to a United States senator for having the authority to simply ask a question imagine what they will do to any American who dares to speak up,' said Padilla. I do not know if this is true but reminds of the royalty that think they are above everyone.
Politics and Power: A Witcher's Brew of Boredom
New York Attorney General Letitia James chimed in calling it a 'profoundly unacceptable' event. "Arresting Comptroller Lander for the simple act of standing up for immigrants and their civil rights is a shocking abuse of power," James said in a statement. She also said it was a "grotesque escalation of tensions," and that the Trump administration's "rampant targeting of New Yorkers only makes our communities less safe." More politicians squawking about power. Makes me want to drown my sorrows in a flagon of ale though I believe in that City they drink cocktails.
The Lesser Evil... or Just Plain Evil?
So another day another mess in the human world. Seems everyone's picking sides waving flags and pointing fingers. Me? I'll stick to hunting monsters. At least they're honest about what they are. And they can be slain by sword or sign... not paperwork. Still this whole affair stinks of politics and injustice. Makes me wonder if there's a lesser evil here... or just plain evil wearing a different mask. Time for a drink. Roach! To the stables!
