A Company Divided...

Well damn. Looks like David Zaslav the big cheese at Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to pull a Yen and Yennefer and split the company in two. One half 'Streaming and Studios,' gets all the flashy bits like movies and HBO. The other 'Global Networks,' gets... well let's just say it's got the kind of assets that make you wonder if they're trying to summon a djinn. And TNT Sports is stuck in the middle.

The Curious Case of TNT Sports

Now what's a Witcher to make of this? TNT Sports with all its sweaty basketball players and yelling commentators might find itself without a home. Zaslav's saying sports haven't been pulling in the crowds for HBO Max which if you ask me is like saying drowners don't enjoy a good bath. It's still gotta go somewhere right?

The Money Men Speak

Gunnar Wiedenfels the new head honcho for Global Networks is left holding the bag or rather the broadcast rights. He's got to decide where to shove TNT Sports like a Witcher deciding whether to slay a Leshen or negotiate. License it? Sell it? Merge it? Decisions decisions. And all I want is a warm bath and some gwent.

Licensing Shenanigans

So Wiedenfels could just license TNT Sports to someone. Maybe HBO Max maybe someone else entirely. Imagine the French Open right after the latest episode of some high brow drama. A clash of cultures I tell you. Like putting a Witcher in a banquet hall – bound to be trouble.

The Versant Vortex

Then there's this Versant company apparently eager to snatch up sports rights like a Griffin going for a goat. Their CEO seems keen probably thinking TNT Sports will give them some muscle. If you ask me sounds like a job for a Witcher consolidate merge acquire.. it is all the same in the end another contract to fulfill and be paid.

The Taxman Cometh... Eventually

Of course there's always the taxman to worry about. Seems they're trying to do this split all nice and tax free but selling off pieces later might change things. Makes you wonder if these CEOs ever sleep or if they just dream of spreadsheets and profit margins. Me? I prefer dreaming of a quiet life with a full coin pouch and a distinct lack of monsters. Ha! Who am I kidding?
