A Witcher's Eye on Coin
Well damn. Seems even when I'm far from drowners and fiends there's always someone trying to bleed coin from folk. This time it's those House Republicans pushing through tax breaks like they're allergic to gold in the Treasury. Trump's involved naturally. Always some sort of chaos follows that name doesn't it? They've been squabbling over this SALT thing – sounds like something you'd put on a boiled egg but apparently it's a fight over deductions. Reminds me of haggling with a merchant in Novigrad. Endless.
The SALT Mine
Apparently they're thinking of upping the SALT cap to $30,000 for those earning less than $400,000. Sounds generous until you realize they capped it at $10,000 in the first place to fund their last coin grab. Like Yennefer and her potions it's all about the fine print. Some lawmakers want even higher limits. More more more... always more. As the Butcher of Blaviken I know a thing or two about cutting through the bull and this smells worse than a kikimore nest.
Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill'
Jason Smith a Republican said they're working closely with Trump to get this 'One Big Beautiful Bill' to his desk. 'Big' and 'Beautiful'? Sounds like something out of a bard's sappy ballad. More likely it's another tax cut for the wealthy dressed up in fancy words. The full House vote is coming soon. Place your bets folks. But remember 'Evil is evil. Lesser greater middling… Makes no difference.' Geralt of Rivia
Tax Free Tips and Social Security Shenanigans
Now they're dangling tax free tips and overtime pay. Sounds like a good deal right? Like finding a full purse in a bandit camp. But there's always a catch. Instead of actually helping folks with Social Security they're offering an extra $4,000 deduction for older Americans. Apparently it doesn't cover much for those relying solely on Social Security. It's like offering a healing potion that only works on paper cuts. Useful but not exactly life saving. As always 'People like to invent monsters and monstrosities. Then they seem less monstrous themselves.' Geralt of Rivia
Child's Play... Or Is It?
They're extending the child tax credit even raising it temporarily to $2,500 per child. But shocker it doesn't help the poor sods who need it most. Apparently 17 million children are left out of the current $2,000 credit. It's like promising a unicorn and delivering a mangy donkey. False advertising at its finest. Reminds me of a certain Djinn wish gone wrong...
The Witcher's Verdict
So what's the verdict? More political squabbling more promises that smell fishy than the docks of Skellige and more ways for the wealthy to line their pockets. As a Witcher I deal with monsters of the physical sort. But these financial fiends? They're a whole different beast. 'If I have to choose between one evil and another then I prefer not to choose at all.' Geralt of Rivia
