What's This? GM Going Old School?

Looks like someone's chickened out! General Motors is pumping the brakes on their fancy EV drive unit production and going back to what they know best: good ol' gasoline powered transmissions. They're boosting production at their Toledo Ohio plant shifting gears away from those electric gizmos. "Groovy," I thought as I read the news. Market demand they say? More like they realized those golf carts aren't cutting it when you need to run over some alien scum.

Trump Card in the Auto Game

Ah yes Trump's tariffs. That orange skinned dude is still causing trouble. Word on the street is this whole shift might be a sneaky way to dodge those pesky import taxes he slapped on auto parts. "Come get some!" I say to those tariffs. But GM is playing it cool denying the connection. Sure guys whatever you say. Meanwhile I'll be here polishing my Desert Eagle and laughing all the way to the gas station.

Toledo: From Green to Mean Machine

Remember when GM was all excited to turn their Toledo plant into an EV powerhouse? They threw around $760 million talking about a green future. Well scratch that! One of those fancy drive unit lines is now churning out transmissions. Rob Morris the plant director spilled the beans in a memo. I bet the workers were thrilled – nothing beats the smell of gasoline and gunpowder in the morning!

EV Fail: Not Even Close Baby!

Speaking of failures GM promised they'd crank out 200,000 EVs in North America in 2024. Guess what? They only managed 189,000. That's like promising a babe a date and then showing up with your grandma. They're even pushing back EV truck production in Michigan. What a bunch of amateurs! "Hail to the king baby!" That's what I say to companies who actually deliver.

Tariff Trouble: Show Me the Money!

According to some eggheads at the Center for Automotive Research Trump's tariffs are gonna cost automakers a whopping $108 billion in 2025. That's a lot of bubblegum! No wonder everyone's scrambling. Some are trying to expand in the U.S. to avoid the taxes while others are just waiting to see if this whole thing blows over. Me? I'm just waiting for the aliens to invade again. More targets more fun!

Still Paying the Price!

Even with all this shuffling the industry is still getting hit with tariffs on imported auto parts. It's like getting kicked when you're already down. But hey that's life. Sometimes you're the one doing the kicking and sometimes you're the one on the receiving end. Just gotta keep your boots polished and your shotgun loaded. I've got balls of steel! Now I am going to go watch some TV.

The government should be subsidizing EVs more.

I'm sticking with my gas-guzzler! EVs are for nerds.
