The End of a Legend?

Damn another legend bites the dust... or rather passes on the torch. Heard ol' Warren Buffett – the 'Oracle of Omaha' as they call him – is finally hangin' up his boots. Well sort of. He's apparently stayin' on to 'help,' which usually means backseat driving. Makes me wonder if he'll be like a particularly annoying ghoul always whispering advice from the shadows. Anyway he's passin' the reins of Berkshire Hathaway to this Greg Abel fella. Heard of him? No? Didn't think so. Seems like a decent sort though. Hopefully he won't turn out to be a dopplerganger.

From Textile Mill to Trillion Dollar Empire

Buffett bought some old mill back in '65 turned it into this massive empire. Insurance trains the whole shebang. Sounds like something out of a fairy tale only with more spreadsheets and less dragons. Now Berkshire is worth close to one point two TRILLION. Now that's a lot of coin even by my standards. Makes me wonder if they've got any monster contracts I could pick up though I doubt any of those shareholders would be okay with a witcher running the show.

Abel Takes the Helm: A Steady Hand or a Risky Gamble?

So this Abel fella... he's been Buffett's right hand man for a while now apparently. Vice Chairman of something or other. Supposedly he's got the same 'patient value investing style' as Buffett. Which means he likes to hoard gold right? I’m kidding. Means he’s cautious and doesn’t buy into hype. Good for him. He’s sitting on a mountain of cash and plans to sit tight for a good investment. Hope he's got a good nose for monsters... I mean opportunities. Because if not that hoard will go to waste. And I could really use a new sword dammit!

Buffett's Vote of Confidence (and a Cane)

Buffett himself seems pretty confident in Abel. Says he's a harder worker and gets things done better. Ouch. Publicly admitting you're not the best? That takes guts. I guess even legends have their limits. Buffett even said he wouldn't sell a single share because he thinks the company will do better under Abel. That’s a high stakes vote of confidence. Though he did use a cane so maybe he's just tired of all the walking. I feel you Warren I feel you. Especially after a long night battling a Leshen.

What's Next for the Oracle?

Buffett's not disappearin' completely. He'll still be around 'helping out.' Though what that actually entails no one seems to know. Maybe he'll just be sitting around telling Abel how he used to do things. Or maybe he'll become the company's version of a seer dispensing cryptic advice only understandable in hindsight. Either way it's gonna be interesting to watch. Kinda like watching a Striga transform only with more stock options and less screaming.

An End of an Era or a New Beginning?

So there you have it. The end of an era or the beginning of a new one. Who knows? All I know is change is inevitable. And usually messy. Let's just hope this Abel fella knows what he's doing. Otherwise Berkshire Hathaway might end up like Temeria after Foltest... a complete and utter disaster. But hey at least there's always gwent.
