AI's Gonna Need More Juice Than My Dad's Coffee Addiction

Alright alright alright gather 'round you beautiful baldies! Asmongold here and let me tell you this news about Elon Musk saying AI is gonna suck up all the power? Dude what the hell? We're talking about the same guy who wants to put chips in our brains and now he's telling us the power grid can't handle it? It's like bro pick a lane! He told CNBC that his AI startup xAI is planning a gigawatt size facility outside Memphis Tenn. He says the facility would be complete in six to nine months. That’s like… a LOT of electricity. Next thing you know my stream is gonna be interrupted by rolling blackouts during Mythic raid progression. Can't have that gotta get the loot!

Chips Transformers and the Inevitable Heat Death of the Universe (Probably)

Musk says AI faces three major limitations: chips transformers and power generation. Transformers those things that make the buzzing noise near your house are used to convert electricity. Apparently we're running out of those too! I tell you what man it's always something isn't it? First it's the GPU shortage now it's Transformers. I'm starting to think the Decepticons are behind this. "As we solve the transformer shortage there will be the fundamental electricity generation shortage," Musk told CNBC's David Faber. "My guess is people are going to start hitting challenges with power generation maybe by the middle of next year end of next year." Middle of next year huh? So right in time for the next WoW expansion... great.

Google Goes Nuclear (Maybe They're Just Mad About the Search Results)

Even Google is getting in on this power panic. Apparently they're looking into nuclear energy because renewables aren't cutting it. I mean come on you can't rely on sunshine and rainbows to power the AI that's supposed to be taking over the world. That's like trying to fuel a Ferrari with friendship. “Google ran into a ‘very stark reality that we didn't have enough capacity on the system to power our data centers in the short term and then potentially in the long term,’ Golin said at a February conference hosted by the Nuclear Energy Institute in New York City.” Next thing you know we'll be back to coal! It's always the same innit?

China's Power Rocket vs. America's Flatline (Sounds About Right)

Musk pointed out that China's power generation is going up like a SpaceX rocket while the US is flatlining. I'm not surprised tbh. We're too busy arguing about politics to build power plants. Meanwhile China's over there building gigafactories and AI supercomputers. "China power generation looks like a rocket going to orbit and U.S. power generation is flat," the Tesla CEO said. At least we have freedom right? Though what's the point of freedom if you can't play WoW because the power grid's overloaded?

Natural Gas Turbines and Environmentalists (Here We Go Again)

Musk's xAI is using natural gas turbines to power its data center. And of course the environmentalists are up in arms. Listen I get it pollution is bad. But we're talking about AI here! We need this technology to optimize our loot drops and automate our chores so we have more time to complain about Blizzard! Environmental advocates have accused xAI of violating the Clean Air Act and permitting requirements for "major sources of air pollution" by using gas turbines without mitigation technologies or permits in place.

Pump the Brakes Utilities! (Or Maybe Just Get Better Forecasting)

Some utility companies are saying the demand for data centers is overstated. Constellation Energy's CEO said they need to "pump the brakes" on these forecasts. Look I'm no expert but it seems like everyone's guessing here. Either way if this power crisis gets any worse I'm investing in candles and a generator. And maybe a Faraday cage to protect my precious gaming rig from EMPs. "I just have to tell you folks I think the load is being overstated," CEO Joe Dominguez said on the power company's first quarter earnings call. "We need to pump the brakes here." I say we need to pump the power! To the MAX!

Elon needs to focus on making Teslas that don't catch fire.
