My Spidey Sense is Tingling...About a Budget Cut?

Alright web heads Spidey here with the lowdown. Seems like the powers that be are thinking about giving NASA's budget a bit of a 'thwip' – downwards! We're talking a possible $6 billion haircut. Ouch! That's like Aunt May finding out I accidentally used her prize winning yarn for a giant web sculpture. But hey at least they want to send a billion towards Mars right? I wonder if they have good pizza there.

To the Moon AND Mars? Sounds Like a Challenge!

The official line is NASA's gotta focus on 'beating China back to the Moon' and sticking the first human on Mars. It is a good thing to be ambitious kinda like me taking on Doc Ock Venom and Carnage all in one week! Easy peasy! NASA's acting administrator Janet Petro sounds kinda like my old science teacher Mr. Warren... only less likely to turn into a giant lizard. She's saying this budget 'reflects the administration's support' and sets the stage for 'our next great achievements.' But even I know sometimes you gotta read between the lines like figuring out what MJ *really* means when she says 'I'm fine'.

Streamlining? Sounds Like a Nice Way of Saying...

NASA needs to 'streamline' which basically means layoffs and cutting programs to the bone. They're talking about ending 'unaffordable' missions. Reminds me of when I tried to build a Spidey themed skyscraper... Turns out web shooters don't pay the bills! And let's not forget about retiring the SLS rocket Orion spacecraft and Gateway programs. Some science programs are getting the chop too. No more fun soil analysis from Mars!

Elon Musk: Our Man on Mars?

So Elon Musk and SpaceX are involved? Surprise surprise! They've been itching to launch a manned mission to Mars. Musk's been saying he's 'highly confident' they'll land people on Mars by 2026. That's ambitious even for a guy who builds rockets and tweets memes. Maybe he can build me a web shooter that never runs out of web fluid. I'd pay good money for that... well I would if I *had* good money.

Who Benefits From These Space tacular Changes?

Okay so who wins and loses in this whole intergalactic reshuffling? SpaceX ULA and Blue Origin are probably rubbing their hands together since they will be conducting more launches. Boeing is going to be shedding a tear being the prime contractor on the SLS program that is being retired. Also this Jared Isaacman guy needs to be approved by the Senate to lead NASA? I should swing by and give him the Spidey seal of approval. It's a very official seal.

Great Power Great Budget?

Petro is telling NASA employees to 'persevere stay resilient.' Easier said than done when you're facing budget cuts! But hey if there's one thing I know it's dealing with impossible odds. Just gotta remember 'With great power comes great responsibility' – and sometimes a surprisingly small budget. Maybe I can start a GoFundMe for NASA... call it 'Save Space One Web Sling at a Time!' What do you say web heads? Are you in?

Space exploration is too important to cut back on.

This is outrageous! We need to protect NASA's funding!

Maybe we should just ask Tony Stark to fund everything.

Cutting the Earth science division is a mistake! We need to understand our own planet!

I hope they don't lay off too many people. Space exploration needs talented people.
