Gaming Glory! (And Maybe Some Teddy Related Luck)

Right then! Seems like those clever chaps at Tencent have been awfully busy haven't they? Their gaming thingy is doing rather well a bit like when I managed to win that tombola prize at Mrs. Wicket's garden party! They're raking in the yuan – mountains of it! Apparently games like 'Honor of Kings' and 'PUBG Mobile' are the bee's knees. Makes you wonder if they’ve got a lucky Teddy hidden somewhere in their headquarters just like mine! Revenue's up 13% which is better than the last time I tried to bake a cake. Oh dear the kitchen...

WeChat Wonders: More Than Just a Chat!

And what's this about WeChat? A 'super app,' they call it. Sounds like something out of a superhero film doesn't it? But instead of saving the world it lets you pay for things play games and even book a flight! All in one place! Blimey. A bit like trying to fit all my shopping into my Mini really. Apparently all those lovely people using WeChat mean Tencent can sell adverts... Marketing services are up 20%. If only I could figure out how to sell adverts on Teddy! 'Buy Teddy! He's soft and cuddly!' Hmm needs work.

AI Adventures: Are Robots Stealing My Marmalade?

Now this 'AI' business… Artificial Intelligence! Sounds awfully complicated doesn't it? Like trying to understand Mrs. Wicket's instructions for operating the washing machine. Tencent is splashing out on it all in the name of progress. They’ve even got their own AI chatbot called Yuanbao. I do hope it doesn’t develop a taste for marmalade. That’s strictly Teddy’s treat! They reckon AI helps them with adverts and games. I suppose that’s alright… as long as they don’t start replacing Teddy with a robot version!

Chip Conundrums: More Important Than Crisp Sandwiches?

Oh dear something about chips… and not the kind you dip in ketchup! Apparently there are some rules about who can sell these chips to China. Sounds like a right pickle! The chap in charge Martin Lau says they’ve got a good pile of these chips already and they are trying to be more efficient with their AI… Good for them! I'm not entirely sure what all this means but if they run out of chips perhaps they could use potatoes instead? He he.

Numbers Nonsense: Are These Sums Correct?

Right back to the numbers. Revenue beat expectations! Hurrah! Like when I manage to pour a cup of tea without spilling it everywhere. Net profit however was a bit less than expected. Boo! A bit like when I tried to make a sandwich and the bread was stale. Still not all bad then? I guess. Revenue from China shot up by 24%! Good for them. International gaming grew by 23%. Excellent! They're doing alright aren't they?

A Bean's Final Thought: Keep Calm and Carry On!

So there you have it! Tencent is doing rather well despite some chip related bother. They're making lots of money spending lots of money on AI and generally being very clever. Makes you wonder if they could help me figure out how to parallel park my Mini… Or maybe I should just stick to driving on the roof! He he. Until next time!
