A Close Shave with Financial Disaster!
Right so these Hugo Boss people they make clothes you see. And apparently people buy them! Well mostly. They were ever so worried because the numbers weren't quite as shiny as they usually are. Like when Mrs. Wicket says my rent is due. It seems folks weren't as keen to splash the cash but luckily it wasn't a total disaster! Phew! Just imagine if they went bust. Where would posh people buy their… trousers?
China's Not Playing Ball (with Buttons)!
The problem? China! Apparently the people there are a bit glum about money. Which means less buying of fancy clothes. It's like when I try to sell Teddy at the car boot sale and nobody wants him. Heartbreaking! The big boss man Mr. Grieder he said it's all a bit wobbly wobbly in the world. Makes you want to hide under the duvet with a nice cup of tea and Teddy doesn't it?
Keeping Calm and Carrying On (With Clothes)
But hold on to your hats! (Or should I say 'hold on to your ties'?) Hugo Boss is still saying they'll do alright this year. Between 4.2 and 4.4 billion euros worth of alright. That's a lot of beans! Like when I tried to count the buttons in my button tin and got completely lost. They're keeping an eye on things though. Like when I'm trying to park my Mini and Mrs. Wicket is shouting instructions from the window. "Mind that lamppost Mr. Bean!"
Tariffs? More Like Terrifying!
Now here's where it gets a bit like watching paint dry but important paint! These 'tariffs' are like a big bully trying to take everyone's sweets. America is playing silly buggers. Because of this Hugo Boss is worried. A lot of their posh frocks come from Europe but some come from China. And if America slaps a big tax on them well that's not good is it? It's like when I tried to bake a cake and ended up with a brick.
Dodging the Tariff Bullet!
So what's Hugo Boss going to do? Well they're going to be sneaky! They'll try and get their clothes from other places that don't have these silly tariffs. And maybe just maybe they'll have to charge a bit more. It's all a bit like trying to get a grape into a piggy bank. You have to jiggle it about a bit.
Ladieswear's a Bit of a Disaster!
Apparently the lady's clothes aren't doing so well. Bit of a fashion car crash is it? It seems they need to find a nice frock that everyone wants. Maybe I should design one? It would probably involve a rubber chicken and a lot of safety pins. Like when I tried to fix my boiler with a firework.
