Novo Nordisk scores a major legal victory, halting compounding pharmacies from producing cheaper versions of Wegovy and Ozempic. Is this a win for patient safety or just corporate greed? Let's f***ing find out!

Is the Shortage Really Over?

Right listen up you donkey! Novo Nordisk those clever devils have just pulled off a blinder in court. They've essentially put a stop to these so called 'compounding pharmacies' flogging cheaper knock offs of Wegovy and Ozempic. Apparently some judge in Texas agreed that the shortage of semaglutide is sorted. But is it really? Or is someone taking the p***? People were turning to these alternatives because either they couldn't afford the real deal or there wasn't enough to go around. Now what are they going to do? Starve?

Copycats and Cash Cows

Let's be clear when there's a declared shortage these compounding pharmacies can legally whip up their own versions. Enterprising innit? But Novo Nordisk and some 'health experts' are moaning about it because the FDA doesn't approve these custom made concoctions. They're worried about safety or so they say. Maybe they're just worried about their fat f***ing profits! I mean who wouldn't be? They've been milking this cow for years.

Novo's Victory Lap

Steve Benz some bigwig at Novo Nordisk is all smug saying patient safety is their top priority. He's banging on about how they've launched a hundred lawsuits to protect Americans. Oh really? Or are you just protecting your bottom line you greasy twit? Don't give me that bollocks about caring for people when you're charging an arm and a leg for these drugs! It's like charging a fortune for a decent burger and then complaining when someone else makes a cheaper one.

FDA's Heavy Hand

So this Judge Pittman bloke has denied the Outsourcing Facilities Association their plea. Now the FDA can go after these 503A pharmacies making the compounded versions. And after May 22nd they can target the big boys the 503B pharmacies too. They can seize their products send warning letters – the whole shebang. It's like watching a bunch of overzealous health inspectors raiding a dodgy kebab shop. A bit much innit?

Lilly Joins the Fray!

Novo Nordisk isn't the only one getting their knickers in a twist. Eli Lilly is doing the same with their weight loss drug Zepbound and diabetes treatment Mounjaro. Seems like everyone wants a piece of this lucrative pie and they're not afraid to get their hands dirty. The FDA declared the shortage of their active ingredient tirzepatide over last year and the same compounding group sued them too. It's like a never ending game of cat and mouse except the mouse is just trying to survive.

The Verdict: Is it progress or a Piss Take?

At the end of the day someone’s gotta ask the real question here: Who really wins? Is it the drug companies raking in the dough or the patients struggling to afford life changing medication? Something's gotta give or we'll all be left with a bad taste in our mouths. Now where's my f***ing lamb sauce?

The shortages were a pain in the arse. Hopefully, this means there'll be enough medication for everyone now.

Novo Nordisk is just protecting their monopoly. It's all about the money, not patient safety.

This is just another example of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Disgusting.
