He sent letters to bigwigs in Japan South Korea Malaysia Kazakhstan South Africa Laos Myanmar Bosnia and Herzegovina Tunisia Indonesia Bangladesh Serbia Cambodia and Thailand. Each letter? Boom! New tariffs ranging from 25% to 40%! Effective August 1st no less! But here's the kicker: the markets? They're shrugging! Like Huey Dewey and Louie when I tell them to clean their room! 'Oh boy oh boy oh boy!' Is what I said when I saw this.

Those Asia Pacific markets the ones supposed to be squawking the loudest? They're barely making a peep! Japan's Nikkei 225? Up a measly 0.3%! South Korea's Kospi? A bit better at 1.8% but still! At the end of 2024 it was at 2.5%. Boy is that the daffiest thing I've ever heard!

Europe's Hope for a Deal!

Over in Europe they're hoping for a trade deal with the U.S. A deal that would avoid a whopping 20% tariff! An EU diplomat says they might get a letter this week giving them more time to work things out. They're thinking of a 10% baseline tariff with exceptions for stuff like airplanes and uh spirits. Bottoms up! But the diplomat admits it's all up to Trump. Well that's just great! Talk about a wild card! 'Oh I'm so mad I could scream!'
