There Is No Fate But What We Make For Ourselves... Or Is There?
Alright listen up because this is important. Like future of humanity important. Donald Trump yeah that guy tried to sneak in Ed Martin as the U.S. Attorney for D.C. I know I know it sounds like the beginning of a bad sci fi movie. But Senator Thom Tillis bless his heart just pulled the plug on that scheme. "I've indicated to the White House I wouldn't support his nomination," Tillis said. Finally someone gets it. This isn't just about politics; it's about preventing the rise of Skynet or at least preventing another January 6th which let's be honest feels pretty damn close to the same thing these days.
Come With Me If You Want To Live... Politically!
Tillis isn't buying Martin's support for the Jan. 6 rioters. Apparently Martin thinks some of those guys were over prosecuted. Over prosecuted? Are you kidding me? They stormed the Capitol! I've seen machines with less destructive power! Tillis put it bluntly "If Mr. Martin were being put forth as a U.S. attorney for any district except the district where Jan. 6 happened the protest happened I'd probably support him but not in this district." Good call Senator. You're learning. The future is not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves. Except you know sometimes fate involves preventing questionable nominations.
I'll Be Back... To Vote Against You Again!
So what does this mean for Martin? Well it's not looking good. The Senate Judiciary Committee is split and with Tillis saying "no," Martin's nomination is DOA. Even Chairman Chuck Grassley is throwing shade saying he wants to "put on people that have the votes." Ouch. That's gotta sting. It's like getting terminated by a T 1000 but with paperwork.
Hasta La Vista Baby... Nomination!
Martin's currently the interim U.S. Attorney but his time's running out. May 20th to be exact. It's like that scene in the steel mill but instead of molten metal it's political oblivion. Tillis admitted he had a good meeting with Martin but then dropped the hammer: "Mr. Martin did a good job of explaining... that there were some people that were over prosecuted but there were some [200 to 300 of them] that should have never gotten a pardon." In other words nice try buddy. I'm on to you.
No Tolerance For Time Travelers or Capitol Stormers
Tillis is crystal clear: anyone who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6 deserves jail time. "Whether it's 30 days or three years is debatable but I have no tolerance for anybody who entered the building on January the sixth and that's probably where most of the friction was," he said. Hear that future insurgents? Sarah Connor's watching. And I'm not alone. We will not go quietly into the night!
The Future Is Not Set: Keep Fighting!
This whole thing reminds me why we have to stay vigilant. These guys never quit. They keep trying to sneak their agendas through hoping no one's paying attention. But we are. And we'll keep fighting one nomination at a time until the future is safe. Remember the future is not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves. Now if you'll excuse me I have a date with a shooting range.

Sarah Connor would be proud.

I'm tired of these politicians playing games with our democracy.
