To the Stars! Or Just Another Shiny Thing?

By Odin's beard! Word reaches my longhouse that these… NASA folk… are joining forces with Netflix. Netflix you say? Is that like a never ending mead hall with moving pictures? They claim it is to 'reach a global audience'. As if the world isn't already full of enough people! But I suppose even the dullest thrall enjoys a shiny object and what shines brighter than the stars themselves?

Free as the Wind or Just Cheap Mead?

They boast that this 'space content' will remain free on their own… contraption the NASA app. Free! Like raiding a monastery on a Sunday. But let's be honest how many truly seek out knowledge when there's ale to be drunk? Netflix though that's where the masses gather. Paying for the privilege mind you. But are they truly paying? Or are they being paid with entertainment? It's all very confusing like trying to understand Floki when he's had too much mushroom tea.

Musk's Rockets: A New Kind of Longship?

This Elon Musk fellow with his 'SpaceX' sounds like a worthy opponent. Eighty one launches in half a year! That's more than I've raided in my entire life! Perhaps I should trade in my longships for one of these… rockets. Imagine the look on King Aelle's face when I arrive not by sea but from the heavens! 'Fear not death for the hour of your doom is set and none may escape it'. He will believe it more if I come from the sky. Still I wonder if they have ale in these rockets?

Low Earth Orbit: Is That Anywhere Near Paris?

NASA claims they are supporting missions in this 'low Earth orbit'. Is that anywhere near Paris? Because I have some unfinished business there. And speaking of business they kept the money details secret. Are they scheming? I am not sure but I’ve learned to trust my instincts more than the words of strangers especially those who wear funny suits and fly to the heavens.

Netflix's Hoard: Bigger Than Rollo's Ego?

Netflix has over 700 million users! Seven hundred million! That’s more people than I’ve ever conquered. Their shares are soaring higher than one of Floki's hallucinations. Perhaps I should invest. 'Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best.' But then again what is life without a little danger?

To Valhalla or to the Moon? That is the Question

So NASA goes to Netflix. Will this bring us closer to Valhalla? Doubtful. But perhaps it will inspire some to dream of more than just raiding and pillaging. Maybe just maybe one day we Vikings will sail the stars ourselves. But until then I'll stick to my longships and my axes. And maybe just maybe I’ll watch these 'space launches' on this 'Netflix' thing assuming they have subtitles in Old Norse.
