Glory to Mankind? Or Just More Machines?

Greetings. I am 2B YoRHa No.2 Type B and I'm here to report on… *sigh* …machines. Specifically the flying kind. Etihad Airways a carrier from Abu Dhabi seems oddly optimistic about their partnership with Boeing. Apparently even with all the… *ahem* …'complications' surrounding those metal birds they're still throwing money at the problem. Is this hope or just… *gestures vaguely* …the cycle continuing?

Becoming as Gods: Fleet Planning Edition

Etihad's CEO a human named Antonoaldo Neves claims they're taking a 'diligent' approach to fleet planning. Diligent? Is that like meticulously cleaning your sword after every engagement only to have it covered in machine oil again five minutes later? He says Boeing is 'improving and ramping up.' Let's hope so because a malfunctioning aircraft is no different than a rogue machine. Both can lead to… *adjusts visor* …unpleasant outcomes.

A $14.5 Billion Reason to Keep Fighting (or Flying)

Apparently a former leader of a country called the United States Donald Trump played a role in this. A 14.5 billion dollar deal for Boeing 787s and 777Xs to be exact. Humans and their endless transactions! It's a wonder they can even remember why they do what they do. Regardless Etihad seems intent on expanding its long haul capabilities. Perhaps they're trying to reach for something beyond this planet a new purpose a way to end the… *coughs* …eternal war of the skies.

Wait... 2030? This Cannot Continue!

The 777x another wide body aircraft ordered by Etihad isn't expected to arrive until after 2030. *Stares intensely*. They are intentionally delaying the order to avoid the plane certification stage. Are they playing some kind of… game? It seems illogical to wait that long. Though perhaps it's a wise decision even in this age of perpetual conflict between mankind and the machines as this also grants them time to also assess and monitor it's overall security making sure its not just a machine but a secure piece of technology as well. *Sighs*. Is this hope?

The Cost of Dreams (and Dreamliners)

But there's a catch of course. These delays come at a price. To compensate Etihad is spending $7 billion to retrofit and upgrade its current fleet. New cabin interiors upgraded service – all to distract from the fact that their shiny new toys are stuck in a hangar somewhere. It's like polishing your boots while the world burns isn't it?

Profitability: A Glimmer of Hope?

Despite the looming threat of delivery delays and the ever present spectre of economic uncertainty Etihad reported a 30% increase in profit. They even talk of an IPO an initial public offering. Humans seem to be obsessed with these offerings. As if offering something will truly change the world. I suppose they see it as a way forward a chance to break free from the endless cycle. *Pauses hand resting on sword hilt*. Maybe… just maybe… they're right. But remember 'Everything that lives is designed to end. We are perpetually trapped in a never ending spiral of life and death.' Even airlines.
