By Order of the Peaky Blinders: A Metal Horse in Texas?
So Musk thinks he's got a metal horse that can drive itself eh? A robotaxi rollin' into Austin. June 22nd they say. Like clockwork just like my Shelby Company Limited. He's launching these metal contraptions in Austin Texas. First ride from the factory to some punter's house. I've seen enough moving parts in my time to know somethin' can always go wrong. Especially when it comes to relyin' on machines more than men. Still if it makes money it makes sense. That's always been my motto.
Limited Rides: Invitation Only Like the Garrison Pub on a Sunday
These rides are by invitation only. Like tryin' to get a pint in the Garrison on a Sunday. Some of these 'influencers' are gettin' a go before the rest of the world. They reckon it'll be Model Ys to start with not that CyberCab monstrosity they showed off in October. Austin's where they're doin' the test runs. Geofenced they call it. Keeps the metal horses from strayin' too far. Like puttin' blinders on a racehorse but can this horse even see the track properly?
Promises Promises: Musk and His 2020 Vision
Musk's been spoutin' about this for years. Since 2019 he was 'very confident' about 2020. Remember what I said about predictions? 'Whisky's good proofin' water. Tells you who's real and who isn't.' Seems like he's chasin' his own tail tryin' to keep up. Now he's sayin' Austin first then Los Angeles then San Francisco. Ten vehicles to start. 'Prudent,' he calls it. Like sneakin' up on a deal instead of barging in. Smart but he better deliver or he'll find out what happens when you promise more than you can give.
Golden Era or Fool's Gold?: Wall Street Weighs In
Wall Street's got its nose in it as always. This analyst bloke Dan Ives talkin' about a 'golden era' and a $2 trillion market cap. Double their current value. Sounds like the kind of gamble I might make. But remember 'sometimes death is a kindness.' If these metal horses start killin' folk that market cap ain't gonna matter much. 'Setbacks' they're expectin'. Well I expect them too. Expect them and be ready for 'em.
Roadblocks Ahead: Regulators and Rebel Rousers
Now here's where it gets thorny. Regulators stickin' their oars in. Group of lawmakers in Texas wantin' him to hold off 'til September. They're worried about safety. And then you've got this lot The Dawn Project showin' these metal horses runnin' over dummies. Makes you think doesn't it? Is it just competition or somethin' more? Either way Musk's got to watch his back. There's always someone waitin' to take a shot.
The Shelby Verdict: Proceed with Caution and Keep a Razor Handy
So metal horses in Austin. Maybe it's the future maybe it's just a fool's errand. But as my Aunt Pol used to say 'There's God and there are the Peaky Blinders.' Musk's gotta navigate the law the competition and the doubters. He needs to remember that 'everyone's a whore Grace. We just sell different parts of ourselves.' Best of luck to him but I wouldn't bet the farm on it just yet. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer – and always always have a backup plan.
