By Order of the Board...
So the world's gone mad has it? Elon Musk a man who's clearly got more ideas than sense is gallivanting about creating new political parties whilst his company Tesla is bleeding money. The stock's down 25% this year worse than a losing bet at the races. An analyst named Dan Ives who's usually got his nose so far up Musk's arse he can taste the electricity dared to suggest some changes. 'Guardrails,' he calls them. Fancy words for telling a man to stay in his lane. But Musk like a child with a new toy tells him to 'Shut up.' Peaky Blinders don't take kindly to being told what to do and neither it seems does Musk. But in this game you either adapt or you're cut. No exceptions.
The Soap Opera Must End
Ives bless his cotton socks wants Tesla's board to rein Musk in. Says this 'soap opera' has to end. As if life isn't already enough of a drama. He wants a new pay package 25% voting control for Musk and a merger with xAI. Sounds like a right pickle. But here's the thing: when your own people start questioning you you're in deep. It's like Polly Gray said 'Whiskey's good proofing water. Tells you who's real and who isn't.' And right now a lot of folks are starting to look a bit less real to Musk.
Political Games and Robotaxis
Another analyst at William Blair downgraded the stock. Says Musk's political dabblings are a distraction. They want him focused on robotaxis. Seems a reasonable request considering the state of things. It's like trying to run a business and a war at the same time. You can't do both. You end up losing on both fronts. But Musk he seems to think he's got the world on a string. He's playing a dangerous game and the stakes are higher than he realizes. By order of Thomas Shelby someone needs to remind him of what matters: business.
Freedom or a Fool's Errand?
Musk claims he's forming the 'America Party' to give Americans 'back your freedom'. Sounds like a load of bollocks to me. Politics is a dirty game full of backstabbing and broken promises. But I digress who am I to judge. And Musk diving headfirst into it? He's either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Maybe both. But let's not pretend he's doing it for the good of the people. There's always an angle. Always a reason. But whatever it is I don't care much for it I have more pressing concerns in Birmingham.
The Price of Distraction
Tesla's board chair and some investor relations bloke haven't said a word. Smart move. Best to stay out of the firing line. But silence is a dangerous weapon. It can be interpreted in a thousand different ways. And right now the market is interpreting it as weakness. Time to get your act together because the longer you wait the messier things will get. The cost of distraction is steep and Musk is about to find out just how steep.
The Final Verdict
So what's the takeaway from all this? Musk is playing a dangerous game. The board needs to pull their finger out and sort him. As for me? I'm watching from the sidelines whisky in hand. Waiting to see how this all unfolds. One thing's for sure: it's going to be interesting. But I'm more concerned about the streets of Small Heath more violence more drugs more madness that is a full time job for any man.
