Little Man Big Problems

So this Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski starts mouthing off about finding a Starlink replacement. Musk never one to mince words tells him to 'be quiet small man'. Sounds familiar eh? Like Arthur trying to tell me how to run the Shelby Company. 'You pay a tiny fraction of the cost. And there is no substitute for Starlink,' Musk says. He's got a point. But in this game everyone's looking for an edge aren't they? Even if it means looking to Bezos and his lot. As we say in Small Heath you gotta do what you gotta do. No exceptions.

Amazon's Gambit: The Kuiper Project

Amazon bless their corporate hearts are launching their own satellite scheme Project Kuiper. Ten billion dollars they're throwing at it. Six years in the making. They're aiming for the same markets as Starlink: governments corporations those poor sods stuck in the back of beyond without decent internet. Smart move. Never put all your eggs in one basket eh? As I learned with the racetracks.

Political Entanglements: The Price of Power

Now here's where it gets interesting. Musk spent a fortune helping Trump get back into the White House. Now he's advising him on cutting government waste. Seems cozy doesn't it? But Tesla's market value has taken a hit. Maybe playing politics isn't always the smartest move. 'Whiskey's good proofing water,' as my Aunt Polly would say. Sometimes a clean deal is better than a favor from a king or in this case a President.

Conflict of Interest: Business and Pleasure

Word on the street is that Musk's people are sniffing around NASA the Pentagon the FAA...places where they're making deals with SpaceX and its competitors. Some worry they're getting access to sensitive information. Scott Amey from some watchdog group says there are too many conflicts of interest to count. Well what did they expect? You lie down with dogs you get fleas.

A Craving for Choice: Amazon's Opportunity

All these political games might actually help Amazon. Governments and businesses are getting twitchy about relying too much on one man especially one with a finger in so many pies. Taiwan's already looking at Kuiper because of Musk's links to China. Even the Italians and Canadians are getting cold feet. Seems they don't like my old friend Trump all that much these days. Power shifts eh? Like the tides at Garrison Lane.

Playing by Different Rules: A Sensible Voice

Amazon's trying a different game. They're being all polite and sensible with the regulators. Talking to them *before* launching services unlike Musk who's been selling Starlink in countries without the proper licenses. That's caused a right ruckus. Amazon wants to be seen as the 'sensible voice'. Good luck to them. But in this business sometimes you have to be a razor not a sponge.
