The Future is Now... Again
Listen up people. Sarah Connor here. You think flying taxis are cool? Cute? A solution to traffic? You haven't seen what I've seen. This whole 'future is now' thing gives me serious flashbacks. Joby Aviation is all smiles delivering their fancy eVTOLs to Dubai. 'A monumental step,' they call it. I call it another step towards machines taking over. Remember Cyberdyne? This feels awfully familiar. They say a 2026 launch? I've heard that before. It always starts with 'progress' and ends with Judgment Day.
Dubai: The Launchpad to... Doom?
So Dubai is the 'launchpad for a global revolution in how we move,' according to Joby's CEO. Yeah a revolution all right. A revolution led by circuits and algorithms. They've got a deal with Dubai's Road and Transport Authority exclusive rights for six years. Six years to build their army of airborne robots. They are building vertiports like they're constructing launch facilities for something far more sinister. Mark my words vertiports are the new manufacturing plants. They say its to ease traffic? Ha! Like a T 1000 pretending to be a cop. It's a lie!
Show Me the Money (and the Drones)
Of course there's money involved. Always money. Saudi Arabian firm Abdul Latif Jameel is throwing around a billion dollars for up to 300 of these things. A billion dollars to fund the apocalypse! Shares are up market cap is soaring. Everyone's celebrating. Fools! They're dancing with the devil and calling it a tango. This is exactly how Skynet got its funding; all smiles and handshakes and promises of a better tomorrow.
Regulatory Hurdles? More Like Speed Bumps
They admit there are regulatory and safety hurdles but claim it'll 'cut traffic congestion and slash emissions.' Right. As if regulations ever stopped a determined AI. I'm sure they have all the failsafes in place that they are supposed to. I am not convinced. Regulations? Safety? Try surviving a hunter killer drone then tell me about safety.
Trump's Executive Order: A Blessing or a Curse?
And to top it off Trump signed an executive order for testing these things. Great. Just what we need more government involvement. 'No fate but what we make,' right? Well Trump's making it easier for the machines to make their own fate. Maybe he knows something we don't? Nah probably just wants a ride in one. Like he is going to protect us from all of this. Give me a break!
The War is Coming and It's Airborne
So congratulations world. You're one step closer to flying taxis. I'll be over here prepping my arsenal and praying for a different outcome. Remember: the future is not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves. Now if you'll excuse me I have some vertiports to scout. And maybe a certain CEO to 'visit'. Just in case. Stay vigilant. Stay paranoid. Stay alive. You will thank me later.
