Alright fellas! Uncle Sam's playing hardball blocking China from getting their hands on those fancy pants AI chips. It's like telling Quagmire he can't have a date with the hot new nurse at the hospital. But China ain't backing down! They're eyeing Huawei trying to build their own silicon valley right there. But it's not all sunshine and ladies there are restrictions on getting the stuff to even make the chips. I tell ya it's like trying to build a sandcastle without sand!

Nvidia's Chips: So Hot Right Now

Nvidia's the big dog when it comes to these AI chip designs or GPUs. Everyone wants 'em even the Chinese. They're like the hot blonde at the Clam everyone's trying to buy them a drink! But the US is getting stricter preventing Nvidia from selling their H20 processor to China. It's like putting a chastity belt on Lois and throwing away the key. But even then the Chinese are trying to make something like it anyway.

Huawei's Got Something Up Their Sleeve Giggity!

Huawei's HiSilicon is the one to watch fellas. They're working on their Ascend 910B and 910C chips. It's a competition like a race to see who can bed the most stewardesses on a cross country flight am I right? It may be a little behind Nvidia's but it's making strides. Huawei is like that nerdy guy at the bar who suddenly bulked up over the summer now he is getting all the ladies!

Chip Fabrication: The Real Challenge

Designing chips is one thing but actually making them? That's a whole different ball game. Nvidia uses TSMC the world's biggest chip foundry but they can't work with Huawei because of the U.S. trade blacklist. So Huawei's gotta go local with SMIC. But SMIC is a little behind like me trying to keep up with a marathon runner. They're known to make 7 nanometer chips but that's not the best yet!

Dutch Chip Equipment: The Key to the Kingdom

You know what really holds back SMIC? They don't have the right equipment to make the advanced chips! It's like trying to seduce a woman with a rubber chicken instead of a bottle of wine you need the right equipment! The Dutch company ASML has the best chipmaking machines but they're blocked from selling the most advanced ones to China because of U.S. pressure. The struggle is real!

Memory Chips: Don't Forget the Ladies!

You can't just have a fancy GPU you need memory chips too for training and running AI. HBM is the top dog right now and South Korea is blocking the sale of some of them to China. So China's gotta make their own! Giggity! ChangXin Memory Technologies is in the early stages of producing HBM. It is a long road for them but with enough work they could produce some great chips.
