Another Day Another Bug Hunt?
Alright listen up. Ripley here. So these Archer Aviation folks think they're gonna solve traffic with flying taxis? Reminds me of the Company promising a bonus after a successful mission. Yeah right. They just sold $850 million worth of shares and the stock tanked 15%. Classic Weyland Yutani move if you ask me. But hey maybe this time it's different. Maybe this time the future isn't about acid bleeding aliens and corporate greed but about zipping to work in a flying car. "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."... Wait wrong script.
Building a Future One Share at a Time
These eVTOLs or electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles are the future of transportation. They say. Archer's using the money to build infrastructure launch an AI software platform and even provide air taxi services for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Good luck with that! Remember the Nostromo? State of the art ship. And look how that turned out. But I gotta admit the thought of ditching the gridlock and soaring above it all... tempting. Still $850 million? I've seen less money fuel entire space colonies. With less chance of something eating your face off.
The Trump Bump and the Balancing Act
Seems like even presidents are getting in on the action. Trump signed an executive order to support eVTOL development. Now I've faced worse things than political agendas believe me. Seems Archer and Joby Aviation shares rallied after the news. You know what they say “If it bleeds we can kill it.” Well hopefully these flying cars won't bleed. The future is here or so they keep telling us. I’m just worried about what might be hiding in the ventilation shafts.
United Airlines Partnership or Corporate Conspiracy?
Archer already has a deal with United Airlines. Air taxis to the airport? Sounds convenient. But I have a feeling that something like Weyland Yutani could use these aircrafts to get away to another planet to breed aliens. Either way I'm not holding my breath. I still have nightmares about shuttle pods and chestbursters. At least they're partnering with Toyota… but Toyota has the money to build an Alien franchise right?
Paris Air Show and the UAE Launch: A Risky Gamble?
They're showing off their Midnight eVTOL in Paris this month. Fancy. And the United Arab Emirates is their first launch market. Well good luck to them. Personally I prefer to keep my feet on solid ground. Though after all these years dealing with Xenomorphs maybe facing rush hour traffic wouldn’t be that bad! Still I would only use an escape pod not a taxi to get away from it all.
From Acid Blood to AI: Same Difference?
Archer's CEO Adam Goldstein says their future is bright. Well I've heard that before. Remember Burke? He was all smiles and promises. Until he tried to smuggle alien embryos back to Earth. So I'm not entirely convinced. Maybe this whole eVTOL thing will work out. Maybe it'll be a disaster. Either way I'll be watching. “I can’t lie to you about your chances but... you have my sympathies.”
