Of Course There's Trouble Brewing in The Amazon...

What's up doc? It's your pal Bugs reporting live from the wacky world of e commerce! Seems like there's a whole lotta commotion down at Amazon these days. Aaron Cordovez this fella who sells kitchen gadgets is in a pickle. See most of his stuff comes from China and with all these tariffs going around well let's just say it's causing more drama than Elmer Fudd chasing me through the woods! He's tryin' to skedaddle production to places like India and Mexico but that ain't happenin' overnight.

Inventory Lasts As Long As We Can Eh?

Cordovez says he's making his inventory last which is like me trying to make a carrot last when I'm surrounded by hungry Elmer Fudds! It's a tough situation. To make matters worse he's had to raise prices on things like milk frothers and smores sticks. Why that's downright highway robbery! A kitchen strainer is going for $12.99 up from $9.99. This is no laughing matter!

Inflation: Not Just For Balloons Anymore Doc!

Turns out it ain't just Cordovez. Amazon merchants everywhere are hiking up prices like crazy. We're talkin' diaper bags fridge magnets charm necklaces – the whole shebang! Some fancy software company called SmartScout says they've tracked nearly a thousand products with price increases since April 9th with an average jump of 29%. Mother of Pearl!

This Looks Like a Job For.. Someone Else!

All this tariff hullabaloo is threatening to turn the third party marketplace on Amazon upside down. And did you know that about 60% of their online sales come from there. Many of these sellers are based in China or rely on China for parts and assembly. Now they gotta choose between raising prices or swallowing those extra costs. It's a real conundrum I tell ya!

Amazon's CEO Steps In – Almost Like Magic!

Even Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy is scratching his head about this one doc. He told CNBC that they're going to try and keep prices low but some sellers are going to have to pass those tariff costs on to us the consumers. I always say 'Be vewy vewy quiet I'm hunting bargains!'

The Rabbit's Hole Gets Deeper!

Some folks in China have already started hiking prices like stainless steel jewelry makers and apparel brands. But here's the real kicker: Zulay that kitchen gadget company had to lay off 19% of its workers and slash ad spending! Another company called Desert Cactus is trying to move production to other countries. One fella said that tariffs have skyrocketed to 170% on license plate frames. "The tariffs can't stay this high," he says. "There's so many people that just aren't going to make it." This trade war is no laughing matter for businesses. Remember folks keep your ears up and your carrots handy. And maybe just maybe this whole tariff situation will blow over like a tumbleweed in the desert.
