The Americans Are Onto Us

Right listen up. Seems these Yanks have finally cottoned on to the game. Temu and Shein those cheap import merchants from China are finding it tough in America. New tariffs stricter rules... it's all gone a bit pear shaped for them. As I always say 'Everyone's a whore Grace. We just sell different parts of ourselves.' And right now the Americans ain't buying what Temu and Shein are selling. But if the Americans are onto us it means there is an opportunity elsewhere.

Europe Beckons Like A Gypsy's Promise

So what do these lads do? They set their sights on Europe of course. More customers more markets. But Europe ain't Birmingham see? They've got their own ways of doing things. And it looks like they're not too keen on cheap tat flooding their markets. 'Whiskey's good proofing water. Tells you who's real and who isn't.' And Europe's about to find out if Temu and Shein are the real McCoy.

The Two Euro Sting

The EU's planning a two euro fee on small packages. Sounds like peanuts doesn't it? But it's a message. They're saying 'We're watching you.' This Anand Kumar bloke from Coresight Research reckons it's a strategic move to slow down these cheap imports. 'Intelligence is a very valuable thing innit my friend?' And these Europeans are showing a bit of it. But money is always welcome.

Ad Blitzkrieg

Temu and Shein are throwing money at Europe. Adverts everywhere trying to win over the punters. Spending is up in the UK and France. They are even offering those that will not be named a lot of money to keep their mouths shut. But money can be a dangerous mistress.

France's Fashion Vendetta

The French eh? Always with the drama. They're rewriting laws to target these cheap fashion merchants. Something about the environment I hear. 'Lies travel faster than the truth.' And the truth is nobody likes being undercut. France do have good wines though.

What is Next?

This Xiaomeng Lu from Eurasia Group says the EU is catching on to the dodgy labour practices. And the EU wants Temu and Shein to clean up their act pay fairly and not exploit people. This could prove tricky. 'I don't pay for my suits. My suits are on the house or the house burns down'. I'm not sure if this threat will work here but we'll have to play the game. 'Family is power eh? And power can make people do extraordinary things.' Time will tell if Temu and Shein can survive this European storm. But one thing's for sure: it won't be easy. 'Sometimes death is a kindness' and in this case it may be a kindness to their competitors.
