To the Moon No Price Increases!
Alright listen up Earthlings! This is Elon and I'm here to tell you that Home Depot is doing what others can't—or won't. While some retailers are whining about tariffs and threatening to hike prices faster than a Falcon Heavy launch Home Depot is saying 'Hold my beer...or in this case my hammer!' Richard McPhail their CFO basically said they're too cool for price increases. They've got scale awesome suppliers and more productivity than a Neuralink enhanced human. They intend to maintain current prices and thats that!
Diversify or Die (Trying)
Home Depot isn't just sitting around waiting for tariffs to destroy their business. They've been playing 4D chess diversifying their import sources like I diversify my companies. No single country outside the U.S. will account for more than 10% of their purchases by next year. That's what I call risk management! Meanwhile Walmart is over there crying about raising prices. Maybe they should try building a Starship to source materials from Mars. Just a thought. But not a bad one!
Earnings: A Slight Wobble in Orbit
Okay okay they missed Wall Street's earnings expectations for the first time since May 2020. So what? Even rockets have a few hiccups on the way to orbit! They still beat sales estimates and their full year forecast remains strong projecting sales growth of 2.8%. That's like saying we're only colonizing Mars in like ten years instead of five. Still happening just needs a bit more thrust!
Springing into Action
Spring is Home Depot's Christmas and they're making the most of it. Even though higher mortgage rates are making people think twice about buying new homes (or building underground bunkers) Home Depot is still seeing customer engagement. People are still fixing up their castles even if they're not building new ones. And with warmer weather maybe even put solar panels on their roofs! That's a hint folks!
Professional Grade Growth
Home Depot isn't just for DIYers anymore; they're going after the pros too. Their acquisition of SRS Distribution is a stroke of genius. Roofers pool guys landscapers—they're all buying from Home Depot now. Sales are up 9% year over year and SRS contributed a cool $2.6 billion to that growth. That's almost enough to fund a small Mars mission. Almost.
Customer Health is Wealth
Home Depot knows their customer base: homeowners who are generally employed and benefiting from rising property values. These folks are healthy engaged and ready to spend on home improvement. Even if they're deferring those massive kitchen remodels they're still buying appliances and garden supplies. They're still improving their homes even if they aren't spending enough money to buy Twitter which is good for them. Keep it up Home Depot I am routing for you!
