I'll Be Back... Said No One Ever (About the FCC)
Okay listen up people. Another one bites the dust. FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington a Trump appointee is ditching his post. Good riddance I say! You think I'm worried about some political reshuffling? Honey I've seen robots from the future trying to erase my son from existence. A little FCC drama is small potatoes.
He Tried to Stop Social Media? Please My Phone Tried to Kill Me!
Apparently Simington spearheaded efforts to control social media under Trump. Newsflash: trying to control information is like trying to herd cats... or stop a T 1000 with a rusty butter knife. It’s a futile exercise. Besides last time I checked Twitter wasn't trying to crush my skull with a metal endoskeleton.
Is Skynet Finally Here? (Probably Not But Still...)
Let's be real every time someone in power tries to regulate the internet a tiny part of me wonders if Skynet is about to go online. They always say it will be something small that we won't see it coming. Next thing you know your toaster is demanding world domination! Am I the only one who sees the signs?
Hasta La Vista Nathan. Don't Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out!
So Simington is out. Starks is leaving soon too. That leaves a power vacuum. You know what happens when there's a power vacuum? Someone tries to fill it. And in this case it will probably be another politician that is equally useless.
No Fate But What We Make... Even at the FCC
The question is what does this all mean? Will net neutrality survive? Will the internet remain a wild untamed frontier or will it become another tool of control? Honestly I'm too busy stockpiling weapons and teaching my son how to hotwire a car to really care about FCC regulations. But hey maybe someone should keep an eye on it.
Come With Me If You Want To Live (Through the Next FCC Appointment)
My advice? Stay vigilant. Don't trust the machines... or the politicians. And always *always* have a backup plan. Because if Skynet does come online you'll wish you spent less time arguing about internet regulations and more time learning how to build a bomb shelter. Just sayin'.
