Another Day Another Existential Threat
Alright people Ripley here. You think Xenomorphs are scary? Try navigating the US government these days. Seems Senator Chris Van Hollen's been poking around a situation that's got more twists than the Nostromo's ventilation shafts. This whole mess started with a Kilmar Abrego Garcia getting the boot from Maryland wrongfully deported as the Senator stated on ABC. 'This Week.'... Reminds me of how the Company always 'misplaces' colonists on LV 426. Always with the convenient accidents right?
Due Process? More Like Doo Doo Process!
Van Hollen's all riled up about this Abrego Garcia's rights being violated. 'Defending the rights of this man to due process' he said...not 'defending the man,' mind you. He says the previous administration admitted in court that the man was wrongfully detained and deported. Sounds like someone's been taking notes from Weyland Yutani's handbook on plausible deniability. The Senator God bless his soul seems to think this is about 'upholding the rule of law'. Honey in my experience the only rule of law is 'survive'. But I guess he's got a point... if we let them screw over one guy who's next?
Constitutional Crisis? Game Over Man!
On CNN Van Hollen warned that denying constitutional rights to one man 'threatens the constitutional rights of everybody in America'. He even went so far as to say on NBC's 'Meet the Press' that we're in a full blown constitutional crisis. I've seen crises folks and usually they involve acid blood and facehuggers. But this? This is a slow burn disaster like watching a chestburster grow in your buddy... and you can't do anything about it. Reminds me of Ash. A goddamn robot programmed to defend the company and not care about the well being of the crew. That's what it sounds like!
El Salvador: Paradise Lost or Just Lost?
So Van Hollen takes a trip to El Salvador to meet this Abrego Garcia. Claims the guy's 'experienced trauma' from imprisonment and getting shipped off to CECOT – a 'notorious prison'. I'll bet. Trauma's my middle name. The poor guy was probably looking for a quiet life and got stuck in something worse than Hadley's Hope after the power went out.
Bukele's Gambit and the Company's Shadow
Here's where it gets interesting. El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele apparently told the White House he wouldn't send Abrego Garcia back. Then the Trump administration suddenly claims they lack the authority to compel El Salvador to do anything despite a Supreme Court ruling. So who's the puppet master here? Smells like the Company's meddling again. Always some hidden agenda some profit motive driving the madness. It's like the alien queen...you think you got rid of the drones and then there's the damn queen behind the scenes!
Stay Frosty People!
Look I'm no politician. I just know when something stinks and this reeks worse than the Nostromo's sewage system after a week in deep space. Senator Van Hollen might be fighting a losing battle but at least he's fighting. We all need to remember that 'no matter what no one wins unless we all win.' And right now it feels like we're all losing. Just remember 'stay frosty'. You never know what's lurking around the corner whether it's a Xenomorph or a crooked politician.
