So I'm munchin' on my carrot mindin' my own business when I hear the news: Trump's liftin' sanctions on Syria! As Bugs Bunny I gotta say 'What's up Doc?' Is this some kind of gag gift? I mean Syria's been in the doghouse since '79! That's longer than I've been dodgin' Elmer Fudd!

A New Hope Or Just a Bad Hare Day?

Apparently this al Sharaa fella – ex Al Qaeda mind you – is now runnin' the show. Claims he's reformed. Sounds like a wolf in sheep's clothing if you ask me. But hey maybe he really wants to turn over a new leaf? Let's hope he doesn't decide to start huntin' rabbits! I'd say good luck to him... if he can handle being a leader. Remember what happened to Yosemite Sam when he tried to lead?

Saudis Pullin' the Strings Eh?

Word on the street (or should I say the carrot patch?) is that Saudi Arabia's been whisperin' in Trump's ear. Seems like MbS – that's Mohammed bin Salman for you city slickers – wanted this to happen. So is this a genuine gesture of goodwill or just some fancy geopolitical chess move? I always knew those Saudis were up to something. Remember when they tried to get me to invest in their tulip craze? Never again I tell you!

Humanitarian Hare Raising?

The UN and Red Cross were cryin' foul about the sanctions after that earthquake. Said it was makin' it tough to get help to the folks who needed it. Makes sense I suppose. Can't exactly hop over there with a truckload of carrots when the roads are blocked now can I? Still I hope they know what they're doing. I'd hate to see this end up as a *complete* SNAFU!

Time to Shine... Or Blow Up?

Trump himself says the sanctions were 'brutal and crippling'. Now he wants Syria to 'show us something very special'. Talk about pressure! What's next they gotta pull a rabbit out of a hat? I say give 'em a chance Doc. But keep an eye on 'em. You never know when things might go kablooey!

So there you have it. The U.S. is rollin' the dice on Syria. Will it pay off? Only time will tell. In the meantime I'll be here nibbling on my carrot and watchin' the world go by. As I always say 'Ain't I a stinker?'
