Shagadelic Showdown in the Courts!
Alright Austin Powers here reporting live from… well not the Oval Office sadly. Seems someone's been a bit naughty baby! A federal judge – appointed by the big cheese himself no less – has given the White House a proper telling off! Apparently they were trying to bar the Associated Press (AP) from some of the swankiest spots like the Oval Office and Air Force One. Can you believe it?!
The Name's Gulf. Gulf of Mexico!
Now the reason for this kerfuffle? Seems like our friends at the AP didn't exactly jump on board with renaming the Gulf of Mexico the 'Gulf of America.' Oh behave! The judge this groovy cat Trevor McFadden pointed out that the White House got a bit sensitive when the AP didn't parrot the president's 'new' name for the water. Honestly some people just can't handle a little truth can they baby?
First Amendment? Yeah Baby Yeah!
But here's the real kicker! Judge McFadden in his infinite wisdom declared that shutting out the AP goes against the First Amendment. That's right the one about freedom of speech and the press! He basically said 'If you're gonna open the doors to some journalists you can't slam 'em in the face of others just because you don't like what they're saying!' Groovy right? Freedom of the press baby!
Not So Fast Baby!
Of course this wouldn't be a proper bit of drama without a little twist. The judge is giving the White House until Sunday to appeal this ruling. Seems they're not ready to admit defeat just yet! They are probably trying to figure out a plan with Dr. Evil or Mini Me or some other evil doer!
The AP Strikes Back!
Julie Pace the executive editor over at AP hit the nail on the head. She mentioned that this isn't just about a name change. "It's really about whether the government can control what you say," Pace wrote. Now that's something to think about! She said think bigger and she is 100% correct baby!
Gratified? We are Gratified Baby!
The AP spokesperson Lauren Easton chimed in with a statement saying they are "gratified by the court's decision." In other words they're doing the celebratory frug! She added that it's a win for the freedom of the press and the public's right to know. Stay tuned folks because this shagadelic saga is far from over! Now where's my mojo?

I hope the White House loses the appeal. They need to learn a lesson!
