Oh Behave! A Security Incident?
Alright alright alright! Austin Powers here ready to dive into the nitty gritty of this TeleMessage kerfuffle. Turns out this messaging app favored by none other than former national security advisor Mike Waltz has been temporarily shut down baby! Smarsh the company behind it claims they're investigating a 'potential security incident.' Potential? Sounds a bit like Dr. Evil plotting world domination. They say they've called in the big guns – a cybersecurity firm – to sort out this 'situation,' and out of an abundance of caution 'all TeleMessage services have been temporarily suspended.' It's like when I had to put a 'temporary suspension' on my love life after that incident with the fembots. Naughty!
Israel Founded App?
So this TeleMessage is an Israel founded app sort of a 'modified' version of the encrypted messenger Signal according to those groovy cats at 404 Media. Sounds like someone tried to make a hip version of an already hip app. 404 Media reports that some hacker got their mitts on data including messages sent via TeleMessage's versions of Signal WhatsApp Telegram and WeChat. They've apparently got their mitts on things.
Signalgate!?
Now apparently there was this whole 'Signalgate' drama where someone accidentally added a journalist to a top secret chat. Awkward! Trump bless his cotton socks wasn't too keen on Signal after that. "I think we learned: Maybe don't use Signal okay?" he quipped. Fast forward to a recent Cabinet meeting and there's Mr. Waltz snapped with TeleMessage wide open on his phone! What is that all about?
Roster of Rogues!
The photographic evidence suggests Waltz was chatting with some rather important dudes Vice President JD Vance Secretary of State Marco Rubio director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and special envoy Steve Witkoff. The plot thickens baby! One day after Trump announces he will nominate Waltz to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Coincidence? I think NOT!
Federal Records Retention?
Here's where it gets a bit hairy baby. Part of this whole 'Signalgate' hoo ha was about whether these messages were vanishing into thin air potentially flouting federal records retention laws. TeleMessage apparently touts itself as a guardian of these laws by backing up chats. But 404 Media says TeleMessage could be undermining Signal's encryption because the messages can be later retrieved. A Signal spokesperson has come out to say they cannot guarantee the privacy or security of these unoffical versions.
Is Your Mojo Safe?
So what does all this mean baby? Well it seems like even in the world of encrypted messaging there's always a chance of someone getting their hands on your secrets. And that my friends is a serious threat to mojo! We need to stay vigilant and ensure our online shenanigans remain safe and secure. Yeah baby! That's all from Austin Powers. Shagadelic baby!
