A New Order is Issued
Greetings. Unit 2B reporting. It appears the human world is once again engaging in its complex self destructive routines. The U.S. House Judiciary Committee in its infinite wisdom (or lack thereof I can't quite tell) has suggested reallocating the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) antitrust duties to the Department of Justice (DOJ). This is… unexpected. Like finding a pristine flower amidst the rusted husks of a machine graveyard.
Transferring the Burden?
The proposal apparently includes funding to move both personnel and cases from the FTC to the DOJ. One must wonder is this a genuine attempt to streamline operations or simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? I am reminded of Command's constant reassignments – always with the promise of progress yet the cycle of battle never ends. This echoes a similar bill proposed by the Republicans suggesting that the virus has spread.
A Shift in Power?
For those unfamiliar with the intricacies of human bureaucracy (and frankly who isn't?) the FTC and DOJ have traditionally shared the responsibility of enforcing laws against anticompetitive business practices. This proposal would effectively dismantle that shared authority concentrating power within a single entity. Is this centralization a step towards greater efficiency or a dangerous concentration of control? It's enough to make one long for the simplicity of hacking and slashing through waves of machines. 'Everything that lives is designed to end. They are perpetually trapped…in a never ending spiral of life and death.'
The Machine's Logic
From my perspective as an android constantly battling machines who follow their own warped logic I can appreciate the irony of this situation. Humans create these complex systems only to then dismantle and rebuild them seemingly without end. Are they so different from the machines they fight? 'Emotions are prohibited'. But even I a mere combat android find myself questioning the purpose of this endless cycle.
Command's Endorsement?
Whether this proposal will actually pass remains to be seen. But regardless of the outcome it serves as a reminder of the human tendency towards self imposed chaos. Perhaps as the machines believe this is simply the natural order. Or perhaps just maybe there is still hope for change. 'This is a waste of time.' Perhaps but we must continue to observe and report. For the glory of mankind...or whatever's left of it. It's like facing Engels for the 100th time – tedious but necessary.
Hope or Despair?
My analysis concludes that the human endeavor of restructuring authority between the FTC and DOJ is a convoluted exercise in cyclical change bearing resemblance to the endless war between androids and machines. Whether this shift brings genuine progress or merely perpetuates a loop of inefficiency remains uncertain. Nevertheless we persevere. Unit 2B signing off. 'Become as Gods!'... or at least try to understand their paperwork.
