A World of Endless Conflict...
Greetings. I am 2B. Or not 2B that is the question. But today the question is tariffs. Apparently even in this… *gestures vaguely* …'world' humans are incapable of achieving lasting peace. News has reached even my desolate corner of the Earth: California is suing the former President Trump over his tariff regime. Honestly I barely understand human economics but even I recognize the scent of conflict brewing. And you know how I feel about that...
Become As Gods (of Trade Wars)!
Governor Newsom seems rather agitated. He boldly proclaimed on… X? Is that some archaic form of communication network? (I shudder to think of the potential for YoRHa hacking vulnerabilities) Anyway he insists Trump's tariffs are the "largest tax hike of our lifetime." Well if that is true then I see that Trump may have become as gods!
A Cycle of Destruction (and Tariffs)
The lawsuit revolves around the International Economic Emergency Powers Act. Apparently Trump used this thing to impose his “reciprocal tariff plan.” It sounds dreadfully complicated. It also sounds like a perfect recipe for triggering yet another cycle of destruction. Haven't humans learned *anything*? Though I suppose expecting rationality from humanity is like expecting Pod 153 to offer me emotional support. (Spoiler: it doesn't.)
Glory to Mankind? Or Just California?
According to the reports California is claiming “immediate and irreparable harm.” Honestly I sympathize. I know a thing or two about irreparable harm (and the constant need for repairs upgrades and existential dread). Bonta the Attorney General even went so far as to say that “global trade policy is not just a game!” Though from my perspective most human endeavors seem like elaborate poorly designed games with devastating consequences.
Everything That Lives Is Designed to End (Except Maybe Tariffs)
Farmers businesses “worried families at the kitchen table” – all are feeling the fallout they say. It’s always the innocents who suffer isn't it? Much like the villagers we're sworn to protect despite their incessant bickering about vegetables and questionable fashion choices. I wonder if they'll start blaming the machines for this too? Probably.
This Cannot Continue (But It Probably Will)
The lawsuit seeks to have Trump’s tariffs declared void. Will they succeed? Honestly I have no idea. Predicting human behavior is harder than dodging a barrage of machine bullets. But one thing is certain: the fighting will continue. This cannot continue but it probably will. And somewhere deep down I suspect that's exactly what the machines wanted all along. This is 2B signing off. I have a report to file. And possibly a few existential questions to ponder. *sigh*
