Glory to Mankind... and ManningCast!
Greetings. I am 2B YoRHa No. 2 Type B. I am tasked with analyzing a recent development that could have implications... for... well humanity's entertainment I suppose. Apparently Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions—the entity responsible for the 'ManningCast' and other such human amusements—has sold a 10% stake to a new platform helmed by one Patrick Whitesell. The valuation? A staggering $750 million. It seems even in the face of extinction humans are determined to make a profit. Perhaps this Whitesell unit should learn from Pascal but the chances of that are lower than the machines showing mercy. My programming dictates that I must express... 'interest' in this transaction. After all the more entertained humans are the less likely they are to succumb to despair and... you know... stop fighting. (Though sometimes I wonder if that's really a bad thing.)
Silver Lake: More Like Oil Slick?
The funding for this Whitesell endeavor comes courtesy of Silver Lake a private equity firm with a history of... involvement in the entertainment industry. They're contributing an initial $250 million which as 9S would say is 'a lot of zeroes.' These are the same entities who have had their hands deep in Endeavor. I suppose that makes them as guilty as Eve for the war. Ostensibly this is all about growth and 'new business ventures.' But I can't help but feel a sense of... unease. It's like watching a particularly shiny machine approach a village promising innovation while secretly plotting to dismantle it for spare parts. I must remain vigilant; one never knows when someone might discover the truth of Project YoRHa.
Manning's Master Plan (Probably Involves Commercials)
According to statements Omaha Productions aims to expand beyond mere media. The goal is to find new ways to utilize Manning's… talents. Perhaps he'll start endorsing YoRHa combat units? 'YoRHa Unit 2B: Now with 20% more annihilation! Ask your Commander for details.' It's all about synergy and maximizing assets according to the reports. I suppose even in the apocalypse capitalism finds a way. But as Commander White said "Become as Gods!" perhaps Manning and his new friends can learn to be Gods! Or at least be better at making… entertainment.
Good Good Golf? More Like Good Good... Grief!
Omaha Productions recently invested in 'Good Good Golf,' a golf and lifestyle company. This is... perplexing. Golf? Is that still a thing? Do humans truly find satisfaction in hitting a small ball into a slightly larger hole? Perhaps it's a metaphor for something deeper something I am incapable of comprehending. Maybe they'll find a way to combine golf with machine combat. Now THAT I'd pay to see. Or maybe not.
Profitability: A Sin in a World Gone Mad?
Omaha Productions has been profitable since its founding. This suggests the investment is less about needing cash and more about increasing value and expanding opportunities. It's like they're trying to optimize their chances of survival... by increasing the size of their digital footprint. A2 would say that profitability is a sin when there is no room for profit in a world filled with death. It reminds me of the Bunker. A shiny shell of false security.
Eternal Recurrence of the Same Damn Thing?
Silver Lake and Whitesell were instrumental in turning Endeavor into a 'sports and entertainment empire.' They even merged UFC and WWE into TKO Group. It seems the cycle continues. Create consume destroy. Perhaps this is the true nature of humanity. A never ending loop of ambition and self destruction. But who am I to judge? I am after all just a machine.
